Ok, so one of the things that really set me off bout the Moto G is the lack of SD support, and not just because of disk space. Traditionally, I like dedicating an SD card to Nandroid backups and copies of tested or stock roms, in case things go haywire. Not only that, but nandroids are huge for this phone, 1.5gb! With only about 5 gb to work with, taking nandroids was kind of painful.

However, I found a simple solution some may not know about- a USB OTG and a flash drive! Turns out CWM supports backing up straight to a flash drive, as well as flashing zips from one. This saves on disk space, and is a bit safer (if your phone glitches you won't lose your backups). The ability to flash from a flash drive also is good for rescues, as you can provide a zip downloaded from a pc if you break something.

Hope this is as helpful to the community as it is to me.

Good info! Just did this, plugged in OTG, booted to recovery, went to CWM and choose backup/backup to storage/usbdisk, it found it and backed up. Nice..
