[Q&A] RAZR i Root

xt890 stuck at boot and looping.

Hi Guys,
I'm in need of serious help. My phone (xt890) was stuck at the Red motorola logo. I tried unlocking the boot loader and also flashed the boot loader. It didn't work and now the phone is stuck in a loop at loading the boot loader. It's not even reaching the stage where adb can detect the device.

You are trying to flash an ICS bootimage to a JB android system. That just doesn't match. If you unlocked the bootloader, i assume u don't have any data left then. Just reflash the whole system then with RSD-Lite. Enough post on the subforum about that U can't use adb, u will need to use fastboot.

I have unlocked the bootloader, and now all i want to do is root the phone. Could someone please please put an idiots guide/tutorial up for me. I am currently on stock 4.4.2 Kitkat. I am only trying to get past the "writing to external SD card" problem, but i need a rooted phone for that. Thank you.

Hi. You are a simple steps to have root now that you have unlocked the bootloader of the Razr i. You can follow this very simple steps shown in the video:

It's basically to dowload this package: "RAZR i RECOVERY.rar" https://mega.co.nz/#!sF8wzQ7C!ssc3uPDKVGhti9qhCfQUbDbgpI-rHECRjbAoz-Fx7R4 (It's the same from the video)
Then you copy these 2 lines of commands and paste them into the CMD prompt:

Command to install TWRP:

fastboot flash recovery recovery-razri-twrptouch.img. (Include the last dot)

Command to reboot the device:

fastboot reboot-bootloader

Then watch the video for the next simple steps, you don't need to understand the language (Portuguese) to follow the steps.

It'll work for 4.4.2. Of course you need to have the drivers installed. You can get them from the Motorola site.
I think it should work for other Motorola smartphones too.
