As far as I'm aware, the 3 keys must be pressed simultaneously.

Weird, since I have confirmation from an i780 user that it works (pressing those 3 keys at the same time).
Will digg a bit more in this issue...

THIS WORKS!!!

goes like this:

1. Turn off the device
2. Press and hold the green phone and red phone buttons
3. While holding buttons from pt 2 press the power button until you see the LED flash red
4. Release the power button, while still holding the buttons from pt 2
5. You will see the following screen:

[Format Mode]

1. Format and Reboot
Press space

2. Skip
Press any other keys

Looks kinda like the hard reset HTC screen doesn't it

nunomax: THANK YOU!

EDIT: PS (for those faint of heart) When you press space it seems like nothing happens, but wait. After a while the device will reboot and you will see familiar "tap the screen to set up windows mobile device" prompt

Glad it worked!! Trully I did not tried it myself, but the honor should go entirely to http://www.pocketpt.net, where I did found this information.
Once more, I am really happy you've found the way to perform a hard reset to this fantastic machine.... just read during last weeks the desperation of some fellows of ours. great !

Best Regards

Great!

Bricked i780 will be saved without flashing.
I let the ROMs deleted to be free from our risk.

Thank you.

Maybe it was just me....tried many times and no, this does not prompt any hard reset on my i780 other then booting normally.

And I have seen report this does not work with SG release i780 too.
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=98149&st=200#

Can you please give us more info like which release was your i780? example FRA/UK/SG/ITA etc?

Thanks alot.

This does not work for me I have tried variations of this suggestion as well.

Swedish version, with selected ENG as os.
