Inspired by this: Update Album Art directly from your device!

Pocket Album Covers
Current Version: .05 (developer's release)
Download: GetAlbumArtFolders.zip

Description

Music players like A_C's S2P (slide 2 play) will usually download any missing album art, but not always. (I have some older MP3s and WMA that S2P didn't download)

This program will scan your music directory and download album art.

Requirement: Music must be stored in directories Artist\Album Name

Libraries required for source code modification: http.dll, binary.dll (written in Basic4PPC)

Tested on:
1. PC (PC version is available)
2. AT&T Tilt

Instructions:

1. Run program
2. Specify location of your music "root" folder. Usually it is "\Storage Card\Music". The default is the location where the program is ran from, but this can be changed at run-time.
3. Click on "Get Album Art"

The program will list what artists and albums are being downloaded. If the album art ("folder.jpg") exists in the album folder, it will skip that directory.

Source code is included in the zip file.

History
=====================================
1/24/09 - fix for safe mode (wouldn't download missing folder.jpg)
.05 - add new menu, Google art search, force over-write
.04 - add error check for parse html, option for either small/large covers
.03 - change to download larger album image
.02 - added VGA
.01 - initial version

There is also a version "Pocket Get Single Album Art" that you can specify Artist & Album and it will save the image as "folder_artistname_albumname.jpg"

I have uploaded version .02 that should scale for VGA devices. I currently don't have a VGA device to test so please let me know if this works.

Version .03 has been uploaded to the main post. This version will download the larger album image that is associated with the album image returned by "albumart.org" search

[update] Version .04 has been uploaded. It adds some error checking and the ability to select either the smaller album cover or the larger one.
[update] Added second program that allows you to specify artist & album and it saves the image file as 'folder_artist_album.jpg'
[update] I thought that only albums would work on the single artist & album version, but it works ok for artist+song title as well.

[mini-App] Get Album Art (version .05)
New version .05 has been uploaded to the main post.

Changes include:

1. New menu added
2. Added Google option for searching album art
3. Added forced overwrite

Note: Use at your own risk. By default, the program only downloads art for directories that do not have any ("folder.jpg") If you select Overwrite mode, it will overwrite art in ALL directories, whether you have art or not. Next version will have an "Undo" feature

Hmm, nice concept, but pity doesn't seem to work... it detected my music folder and albums fine but didn't download anything over HSDPA....

Hmmm, it does seem to work for me. It downloads them all nicely and all.

However, that Album Art is not updated and displayed in the Music Tab (but is properly displayed in S2P). Does Music Tab search for a different file than Folder.jpg? :s
