WORKING!!!!!!

Finally got it working!!

I had to reboot to recovery and do a clear data... then loaded the MetroPCSv3 file form here:h t t p://xdaforums.com/ showthread. php?t=730289

hey guys just so you know, using the evoke plan does make your internet a little bit faster...

i'm getting speeds nearly 50KB/s-100KB/s... still not full 3G as we had a few months ago, i feel cheated.

i get a burst of 250KB/s, then it goes down to about 50KB/s, then back up to about 100...

just letting u guys know.

has anyone tried getting the unlimited blackberry web plan? i wonder if that one is faster...

Its stock like, with no sprint apps

Now, just got to get the MMS working.....

The only hope for mms is to try it on an aosp rom (one that doesn't include the sprint mms components).

Otherwise you need to buy a cricket custom rom (and ive heard they may have some issues).

Im happy without mms for now. Just use email for pics.

updated file

I updated the download from my original tutorial to reflect the IP address change. Also, I have added the option to download the package for Metro as well. The Metro pack has the original IP settings and, of course, differences within the APN file.

Will HTC EVO 4 work on Metro PCS in NYC/NJ Area?

Ok Now that we have the Files Lets Start Flashing

1. Press ##DIAG# (##3424) on your phone You will see a screen Pop Up Thats Normal
2. Now plug The phone up to the computer and it will try and find the drivers but it will fail or ask you to locate the drivers manually so make sure you remember where you unzipped the files
3. Once you have that setup Go to Cdma-Workshop Go To the port the phone is on and Read From the Phone and go to the Security Tab.....and On the Spc Section Read The lock Code and write it to back to the phone so it says unlocked Then make the code 000000 and rewrite the code so it says sucess.
4. Now Close Cdma-Workshop and Open QPST Configuration Click On The Ports Tab and Add New Port ( Make Sure Show Serial and Usb/QC Diag Ports Only is Unchecked) and Add The Port Of Your Hero.
5.Highlight Your Port and Click Start Client and Start Service programming and Press Read From Phone The SPC should be all 0's so click on the M.I.P. Tab and Change The Mobile IP Behavior To Simple Ip. Edit The M.I.P. Profiles at the Top. Your NAI and Tethered NAI should be (your10digitnumber@mymetropcs.com or your10digitnumber@mycricket.com)
6. Next Click On The PPP Config Tab and Click the UM Button your user id should be (your10digitnumber@mymetropcs.com or your10digitnumber@mycricket.com) and the password and tethered NAI should be metropcs or cricket Do the Same For the AN Button and press Write to Phone It should Give You a Error But Dont Worry About It
7. Press ##DATA# (##3282#) And Setup your Data for your phone and press menu and Commit So your phone Will Reboot
8. Install BetterCut or AnyCut on your phone and open it Press New ShortCut And Go To Activity It make take a couple of minutes for it to appear but when it Does Go down to Proxy Setting and Click It. It Will Ask for a Name make it whatever you want to. It should say shortcut created sucessfully. Go to your Home Screen and it should be somewhere on there press it and Edit it For Cricket It should be HostNAME: wap.mycricket.com And Port Should be 8080 and for Metropcs HostName: wap.metropcs.net and Port Should Be 3128.

Great post. But, you are missing a few major things.

A) You need to flash the PRL file for metro or boostmobile. (You need this or no service)

B) You need to get them to add the ESN of our evo. to their network. How do you do so? They wont do it. So now what?

C) You did not mention most need to be DUAL-BAND phones. Or they do not work on metro.

But all in all great post.

Wont work in NY. Because the phones are DUAL-BAND.

NJ you are ok. But, you are back in the 1999 year. where you cannot travel. You can bring your phone into metro and do the metroflash its $10 dollars.

MetroPCS MMS findings...

I have been working into getting MMS working for metro, i have read lots of posts about droid and metro....

The APNs that SYNTAXX have posted might have a wrong setting (no offense

)
The XML file has a mnc of 012, i have seen some say 004. But it should be 027. Delete you APNs, and use Anycut to make a short cut to the Activites >> APN. Open the shortcut and click menu and create new, now you can just make your own, right on the phone, and if you back it up and read it, the mnc will be 027. Also with the anycut shortcut, if the mnc is anything but 027, you cant see it in the APN setting window. Now in the APNs window, with the 027, you can see a radio button next to the APN items. Not sure what that does.....

I have tried lots of combination of servers, and proxies, ports and <blank data> to get it working. Some times i get "sending address unresolved" (SYNTAXX APNs) and "Generic network failure" (other APN settings)

It has nothing to do with that. You need the proper APN settings.

And how did you get it added to your metro account? normal rep will not put it on.

MMS issues with EVO

The EVO seems to have issues with MMS, even when the correct APN settings are there. A few months ago, I used the same APN settings on an Incredible and it worked fine. I believe it is an issue with the EVO roms right now. Till the solution is figured out, this is just my assumption.

Also, if anyone has info on how to get the EVO to receive voicemail notifications from Cricket/Metro, it would be very helpful.

I got a guy too

I was just saying that in order to edit your own APN setting "on the phone" you need the mnc = 027, anything else makes it not viable....and use anycut to get to it.

Manual edit

The efficient way to modify the APN settings is to just open up the XML file with whichever text editor you have. This is recommended and also discourages the use of an unnecessary, 3rd party program, such as Bettercut/Anycut. And, since there is no solid solution for this yet, adding another step (which doesn't work) is a hindrance to those attempting to follow a the guide.

I mean no offense - just trying to keep this as clean as possible to avoid confusion.

Useing anycut is simply making a shortcut to a editing option that is already available on the phone... you can also get to it by voice dialing and saying "edit APNs".........Try it...it works. Open the app drawer, click voice dialer, and say "edit a p n"
