I have come across this info which might help neos2007 chainfire, ginkake, etc and the other developer/s regarding the graphics drivers for the qualcomm 72xx series.
I just wanted to know if you guys can confirm this.

It seems that The Xda Mantle (O2 branded version of the HTC P6500 handset using a qualcomm 7200) has the proper hardware accelerated drivers for the 72xx series of cpus right in its official wm6 pro rom.

SOmebody could probably extract it and adapt it for use for the htc phones using the qualcomm 72xx series.

As proof here are the benchmarks from a review on a spanish website.
Please take special note of the ddb bitblt test
(important for video playback and maybe for fast 2d transitions)

Compare those results with the touch cruise which is also using a qualcomm 7200 cpu and wm6.
Also notice how the htc touch using an old TIOMAP at 200mhz is just performing at the same level as the 400 mhz 7200 in the HTC touch cruise
(this really made me sad)
The difference is more than 10X!

This is what good drivers can do!

Somebody has to get those drivers out of the xda mantle and roll it into a cab that everybody with qualcomm 72xx cpu based device and not just touch diamond users can test!

Here are the Source links
Darn i cant post them as im a new member!
Can someone who has been around here long enough to post urls pm me and i can send the links and you can reply to this post.

the reviewer is very much aware of the HTC video driver issues and comments how HTC should ship their qualcomm based devices with the Right ATI Hardware Accelerated drivers.

hope you can take time out to disseminate this info to the right people who can do this since i dont even know how to backup a rom.

Thanks and God Bless!

Stunning, but I wonder whether those drivers can be adopted and how much this will gain in real life.

Well they did get the atid3d drivers to work on not only diamond
You can check the post of neo2007 where many developers have ported the atid3d drivers from the site HTC class action suite to work not just with the kasier and diamond but other devices based on the qualcomm 72xx cpus.

again replace the xx with tt

HOWever this is just for 3d not 2d and it has only a minimal effect on
video-playback, which is where im now interested in.
I want to be able to play all SD resolutions xvid divx videos smoothly at all times during playback and not suffer the slowdowns during heavy action scenes.
I mean just look at htc touch and the the o2 xda mantle which are both using the same cpus. with the right drivers you get 10 x performance on biblt which is a commonly used 2d performance enhancement technique not just for video but 2d games etc.

Im just hoping the talented peole here who cooks roms and such can get the drivers out from the xda o2 mantle and give it to the graphics developer temas while they are still using winmo coz ive already pmed neo2007 and chainfire but i think theyve left the winmo scene already.

out of topic:
As for the smoother feel i do suggest getting the latest official htc diamond rom 2.03 which is available at htc website but i got it here at xda dev forums.
If your feeling adventurous you can try out the cooked roms at this site too but i chickened out lols!

Can the rom chefs get this 2d driver from the o2 xda mantle
I hope they are reading this thread.
The premise has to be tested if it can make a difference with video playback
since the o2 does have ati acceleration drivers.

You've got my attention. I'm going to dump the rom and see if I can find something there that can be useful.
The Sedna has a MSM7200 chipset, so i will be testing this on my Touch Cruise.

Thank you for getting my attention. I'm sure alot of people could be VERY happy with a speedy device.

Neo your back!
Neo im so glad you took time from your android! lolz!
If i had a good android phone i wouldnt look back
(nah i still like windows mobile for fpsece best peforming mobile psx emulator)
But the rom has to be windows mobile 6 not 6.1
coz thats what the reviewer used.
In wm6.1 the drivers may have become crappy just like the htc ones.
So try to get the wm6 rom.
Hope this helps!

Well so are the HTC class action at3d drivers they are old
Well so are the HTC class action at3d drivers they are old (circa 2008)
Yet it makes tony hawk and need for speed underground not just fast but goodlooking. Not to mention Call of duty 2.

But what we also need is better video playback.
Its hoped that the improved bitblit performance can help speed up coreplayer.
