Just to confirm.
My 32GB SanDisk Class 10 is working fine in the MicroSD slot of TF300. I formatted it to exFAT and copied a 8GB MKV and it played fine on MX player.

When I put it in the SD card slot on my laptop running Win 8 using the provided MicroSd to SD converter, it wasn't getting recognized until I ran chkdsk and since than it's been working fine.

I will try testing it in the TF300 SD card later today.

I've attached the screenshot for benchmark.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the post! I also bought a 64 GB card off ebay and already got my money back because it wouldn't copy all the files I was trying to copy from my old 32 GB that crapped out (I had made a backup before crapping) I ebay messaged the guy and he refunded me within minutes. That should've told me it was a fake, but at least I got my money back. I'm running the program now to see how much space is actually on there. I'm glad to know this program exist so we can test them though.

Update: I guess my 20 dollar 64 GB card is only 3.7 GB. That should be illegal for these guys to sell these cards on ebay. I'm going to complain about this guy and see what happens.

how long did it take to test the 64gb?

I also bought a 64gb sandisk sdxc, its from a reliable retailer which I bought 32gb and 16gb from before they were all good, 64gb are only retail at 53.51 euro from this retailer... 32gb can be bought for 25 euro adata.

I have a rather funny problem tho is that when I copy videos on the card, it wont play on my XZ the first time I insert the card, so I put it back in the card reader in the laptop, played every videos from start, and skip to the last minute, still plays, so no problem with sdcard, that 8gb videos, put back in to phone, and the videos now all plays perfect, wonder why that is.... this is with the 64gb sdxc

It took a little bit to test it (probably cause it didn't have a high write/read speed cause it was a crap card) I think it took about 20 to 30 minutes. I can't remember exactly how long though. I ended up buying a Samsung 64 GB card from Amazon for 60 cause I was so scared to get another crap card after that. It's still a good deal considering Samsung has them for 100 on their site and I'm real happy with it. XDA won't let me post the link cause I'm new but just search amazon for B009SK57ZQ and it'll come up. Hope this helps.

I bought the sandisk, it was a bit funny at start, but i patched my firmware to use exFAT and formatted the card to exFAT, its working perfect now :)

zombie thread!
bought a generic 32GB micro SD back in april, don't know why I didn't try it sooner.
I thought it was an issue with my phone as it had some water damage indicators tripped,
but it works completely ok. here is a test from last night:

2 gigs out of a 32 gig card... on top of being abysmally slow
I called ebay and reported the seller and his listings apparently he got another shipment in and is selling them again.

This is the same card but a more recent version with faster read and write speeds and it's only about 7 dollars more but it is worth it. Lifetime warranty and it's through newegg so you know its real for sure lol. The read speed is 70MBs and write is 20 MBs, awesome!.

I just ordered 2 this week and can't wait till they get here since i paid 16.50 for a 64gig card with 2MB write speed and 5 MB read speed with only 6.7 real gigs lol.

Fake 64GB card

Thanks for posting this information. I used the tool in the OP to test 2 64GB cards I bought on ebay for $16 per card.
Turns out each card was a 4GB card. For the education of those on the board the person selling these cards now has a lot of bad reviews for these cards. He has been a long time ebayer, so chances are he got taken by his supplier. Because he is likely a victim as well, I will not identify him and hurt his reputation long term.
Watch out there seems to be many of these fake cards floating on ebay.
I would suggest testing any card as soon as you get it.

Hey all, haven't seen anything like this so I figured I'd post it. I bought one of the 29 dollar 32GB sd cards on ebay just to do a test. It was listed as 100% new in packaging 32 GB sacn disk micro sd card. I figured it was a fake but knew I could get my $$ back via paypal. Anyway I used a program called h2testw, some of you probably have heard about it but for those who haven't here is a short write up on it and a download link.

http://mympx.org/Downloads/p13_sectionid/2/p13_fileid/13

Basically it fills the card with known data then tries to read it back. here is what I got back when testing the "32GB" card from ebay. As you can see 1GB was written and read the other 31gb was lost, because there wasn't anything written as the card was only a 1GB. Below is the text output from h2testw. Was trying to put in the screenshot from the actual program but i guess I can't figure out how to do that. It should also be noted I ras a bench test with atto bench 32 and got fine 7 write and 14 read speeds. I'll try to insert that image also. Hopefully this will help somebody out if they think they have a bad card.

The media is likely to be defective.

Something is wrong with that link. Noting downloads! Eset link is broken too.

Thanks for this link which worked fine for me. I also got a dud card. Even queried it with the seller prior to purchasing who confirmed it was legit. Yeah right......

A quick and simple way of getting an indication if a SD card is suspect is just to read the SD card configuration information (CID / CSD) from the card. It appears that more work goes into creating fake packaging for bad cards than goes into programming the card itself.

There is no UI for this but there is a many programs for Android such as SD Insight (search for it on Google Play) that can decode and display this information.

This can not replace an extensive media test but it is much faster and more convenient for most people.

i bought a SanDisk Extreme 64GB, its supposed to have reading speed 90MB/s,
but when i use h2testw to test the sd card in SanDisk adapter, it shows to have reading speed 65 MB/s , does that mean its a fake sd card?

thanks in advance

I appreciate the information I am currently running this test. It seems to be taking a looooong time. I purchased a 32 gb memorette on ebay and after recieving an email from another ebayer that he also purchased the same card and found it is only 4gb with this tester, I decided to test mine after having some pictures corrupted and lost. Time remaining says 2hrs 31 min just wondering if this is normal.

Memorette is a fake south Korean company all there SD cards are fake.
