[HOWTO] OLD Froyo FW XXJPH: Upgrade via Kies or Odin, Root, Recovery 2e, Lagfix!

IMPORTANT NOTES, MUST READ FIRST
- IF 3-BUTTON-COMBO DOES NOT WORK ON YOUR PHONE, FIX IT BEFORE FLASHING! FIX IS THERE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201
- IF PHONE STUCKS AT ANIMATED "S", DO A FACTORY RESET/DATA WIPE FROM RECOVERY!
- IF YOU HAVE FORCE CLOSES, DO A FACTORY RESET/DATA WIPE FROM RECOVERY!
- PLEASE UPDATE KIES TO NEWEST VERSION BEFORE FLASHING!
- MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR /efs FOLDER!
- DO NOT RESTORE APPDATA WITH TITANIUM BACKUP IF YOU UPGRADE FROM 2.1 TO JPH

HOWTO UPGRADE TO JPH USING KIES:
- Create a Shortcut on your Desktop with Target "notepad.exe", name it whatever you want
- Right Click on the new Icon and choose "Run as Administrator"
- File -> Open -> C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
- Add the following Line:

174.123.5.146 fus.samsungmobile.com

- File -> Save (If you get an Permission Error, disable UAC at System Settings -> User Accounts)
- Start -> Run -> cmd
- ipconfig /flushdns
- Open Kies
- Connect your Phone
- Wait till Kies has recognized your Phone
- Press the "Firmware Update"-Button
- Press CTRL+ALT+U+P to activate Test Mode
- Follow onscreen Instructions

AFTER FLASHING REMOVE "174.123.5.146 fus.samsungmobile.com" FROM YOUR HOSTS FILE!

HOWTO UPGRADE TO JPH USING ODIN:
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/C0PUZUPBX2
Odin3 v1.3 and Pit 803 included!

- Extract
- Open Odin
- Enable Re-Partition Checkbox
- Choose "s1_odin_20100803.pit" as PIT
- Choose "GT-I9000_I9000XXJPH_I9000OXAJPH_CODE-MODEM-CSC.tar.md5" as PDA
- Start Phone in Download-Mode
- Connect Phone via USB
- Flash
- Goto Recovery and do Factory Reset / Data Wipe
- Reboot

HOWTO GET INTO RECOVERY:
- Turn off your Phone
- Hold VOLUME UP + HOME Buttons
- While holding VOLUME UP + HOME Buttons press POWER Button
- If Display goes active, release all Buttons otherwise Phone will do a Reboot-Loop

HOWTO GET INTO DOWNLOAD-MODE:
- Turn off your Phone
- Hold VOLUME DOWN + HOME Buttons
- While holding VOLUME DOWN + HOME Buttons press POWER Button until you reach Download-Mode
- Release all Buttons

Question: can i use this method to root if i am updating to JPH through KIES? i have also the files required for flashing from SamFirmware.
