You can do them by yourselves from a PC (with Linux or Cygwin)

Extract files (i.e. image.bin) from single tar with 7zip/winrar/tar ...
then
Code:
$ tar -H ustar -cvf odin_package.tar  image.bin
$ md5sum -t odin_package.tar >> odin_package.tar
$ mv odin_package.tar odin_package.tar.md5

ok figured out the tar -H ustar is to write out a specific posix version archive.. seems to be only in the latest gnu tar 1.25 .. I cannot find a version that works either 1. in windows (with version 1.25),
2. my tivo, 3. my ddwrt router etc.. anybody have a link to tar version 1.25 binary for any of these platforms.. thanks

thanks but extracting is not the problem it is the taring in a specific format
got the cygwin and doing it now.

ok now got the right tar which files inside the archive are just needed for a pda flash ie
D:\galaxy\I9000XXJPX\I9000XXJPX>tar -tvf JPX_JPX_U_JPX.tar
-rwxr-xr-x 0/0 1392640 Dec 17 03:27 2010 cache.rfs
-rwxr-xr-x 0/0 286621696 Dec 17 03:26 2010 factoryfs.rfs
-rwxr-xr-x 0/0 655360 Dec 17 03:26 2010 param.lfs
-rwxr-xr-x 0/0 4832540 Dec 17 03:26 2010 zImage
-rwxr-xr-x 0/0 12582912 Dec 16 22:59 2010 modem.bin

D:\galaxy\I9000XXJPX\I9000XXJPX>

thanks
obviously i know leaving out modem.bin will leave out modem.. but how do i leave out csc.. is it just leave out the factorfs.rfs?

for comparision the jpu pda only has all the same files so i dont think it is that simple
ie

D:\galaxy\I9000XXJPU\I9000XXJPU\I9000XXJPU>tar -tvf I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL
747761.tar.md5
-rw-r--r-- root/root 262144 Dec 02 11:04 2010 boot.bin
-rw-r--r-- root/root 1310720 Dec 02 11:04 2010 Sbl.bin
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 655360 Dec 02 11:04 2010 param.lfs
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 285855744 Dec 02 11:04 2010 factoryfs.rfs
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 1245184 Dec 02 11:04 2010 cache.rfs
-rwxr-xr-x root/root 4837152 Dec 02 11:04 2010 zImage

i still think simply unarchiving the tar would do the job this might help (it says that cache.rfs is the csc file)
