I am trying to decide between a D5 the X5 or waiting for the Bluboo Xwatch, which is said to be an Android Wear smartwatch. What would you recommend me? I am looking for a complete smartwatch with phone functions, good health apps, and receive notifications from my phone.

I orderd it too. Oled is the best for view and battery (if your skinclock hasn t a lot of pixel up) and I will try the option "alway on" . The display is bigger too and the look of this watch with 3 button seem s good too for only 2mm more..

I am interested to see if it has the 850mhz for 3g.
If it does it will be a nice watch - same screen as the K8 and much nicer case with stronger buttons.
The K8 OLED screen uses much more battery than the D5 so the battery usage results will be interesting here.
I'm also interested as they seem to be marketing this in some places as being able to make calls with bluetooth - I can't see how unless the firmware is quite different.
I still can't bring myself to buy one as it is basically the same as what I have but better dressed :)

Here's the official specs from Finow. 850 Mhz WCDMA (Band V) is there ;)

Where does it say that it allows calls via bluetooth tethering? I am very interested in this. I could not find that information though.

Well, it's the way it's written on the gearbest website.
It states :
DIALER/BLUETOOTH CALLING....

Or something like that....

I'm the exact opposite. The K8/K18 Round's non-rotating minute indexed bezel is only found on cheap watches and is a real big negative from a design aspect. This newer design matches up with what you would expect to see on a proper watch from a respectable watchmaker.

All a matter of taste obviously but to me that looks like a D5 with 2 more buttons wich makes it look worse to me.

Yes, a D5 with an OLED screen. That's what I like much.

Fully agree with you.

Why is more expensive than the D5? They are pretty much the same smartwatch? Which one do you recommend more?

Moving from IPS to OLED requires a whole new PCB be designed. Also a three button case requires more assembly time and is a more complex design. So it costing more makes sense, but with the sale Gearbest is having . . . it's the same price the D5 was not that long ago ($124.99).

I was hoping the X5 would be available in gold like the K8, but I don't see that option on GearBest Flash Sale. Anybody see it anywhere in gold?

Does the crown (middle button) do anything, or just for show ?

Most probably the three buttons will have same functons as on K8 round: the top is for back, the middle is for power/home, the bottom is for menu/settings.

Im also interested to see if the display really is OLED - the retail ads on Gearbest etc all say TFT. I tried emailing Finowatch but they're bounced back.

    Finow X5 t's a very good mix of K8 regular and K8 mini (No.1 D5).
Design of K8 mini / D5 with 1,4" OLED screen and 3 buttons and similar hardware base.

    TWRP 2.8.2.0 for W815

This TWRP recovery port is suitable for W815 board based smart watches (currently the only known is the Finow X5).
The theme is suited for the round screen. See the attached pics.

To install use the usual procedure for flashing the recovery with SP Flash Tool. Don't do it if you are not 101% sure of what you are doing.
Usual disclaimers apply *** I am not responsible for anyone's issues here. Use this at your own risk !! ***

    1) Install MTK drivers required - follow one of the many tutorials available for this.
    2) Use the supplied scatter file and just select "download" and only tick the recovery image in the list within SP Tool.
    3) Make sure watch is powered off and then connect your watch to your PC and it will flash in a couple of seconds.
    That's all.

I was able to pull apart by only using the included screwdriver; there is no soldering at all! :)

Hi Folks. My X5 just arrived today and Jessie has just sent me the new firmware for the X5 and asked me to share it. Please note any recent orders will probably already come with this firmware but older orders will need to upgrade. Basically, if you have the Google Play store on your watch it is most likely the new version.

This version includes Google Play store and Google voice search app (like in the D5). I'm not sure of the extra features but its should include the SOS function on the main button. I've yet to test this myself.

The installation of the firmware is the same as the process used on the D5 watch. I have included the installation guide provided by No.1 with the D5 as a reference. If you have any doubts please refer here: https://plus.google.com/communities/109827242607524552712 or ask and someone should be able to help. Please note SP tools is in Chinese. I'll try upload a English version

You can also view the D5 thread here: http://xdaforums.com/smartwatch/other-smartwatches/smart-watch-android-watch-to-look-1-d5-t3270656

Firmware can be downloaded here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1UDqFvjL0CbWHJQTzZBRGw4NTQ&usp=sharing

Could someone please add this firmware to the front of this thread please.

BTW I am very impressed with this watch!! Much better looking than the D5.

    Thank you for your answer.
Can I put each right file into directories ? or it is mandatory to build a new firmware ?
Howto setup TWRP: wich device a must choose at the beggining ?

TWRP 2.8.2.0 for X5 is almost ready, some further testing is needed.
Please be patient and you will be able to root the watch simply be installing SuperSU via TWRP ;)
