Hi,

is there any current ROM with Widevine support (e.g. for Netflix app >= 5.x) and security patches?
It seems AICP 13.1 and LOS 15.1 both lack e.g. /system/vendor/lib/libwvdrm_L3.so which seems to be present in stock ROMs (and those derived from stock, see e.g. https://github.com/munjeni/D5503_14.3.A.0.757/blob/master/system/vendor/lib/libwvdrm_L3.so).

A discussion in a fairphone forum mentions that Widevine related libs are usually part of a proprietary blob (see https://forum.fairphone.com/t/widev...-fairphone-open-18-10-0-android-7-1-2/45143/7), but I haven't seen blobs for Sony devices which contain anything in vendor/libs/....

I'd be thankful for any kind of help and/or explanation.

Thanks for the answer, but I have two further questions:
  1. This only includes the dynlib /vendor/lib/libwvhidl.so. Why is this different than for other phones? I expected that the set of proprietary libraries is fixed and then the open part links against them (if available).
  2. Furthermore, this file is present in AICP 13.1 and LOS 15 but DRM info and similar apps all fail (silently or with obscure errors). Does one need some part of a TA partition backup (I have one for the phone in question) to make Widevine work?
