Does your phone work with GSM carriers?

Maybe check out Dr. Keatons M12 rom. I see it says jio 4g listed on thread. I have no experience with this network, but maybe ask on that thread. Maybe they can help.

I went through the installation yesterday, following your instructions, and everything seemed to work fine. However, as I installed more apps and tried to make some changes, I found that I have BusyBox problems. Most apps say it is not installed, while a few, including the busybox installer, seem to think it is installed. I purchased BusyBox Pro a couple of years ago, and when I try to install that, it fails, saying I need to install to a different location. Superuser seems to be fine. I installed both from your root_busybox_package. Any thought on how I can try to fix this? Thanks again!

I've noticed that on a couple of my apps to. Saying no BB. But it's there.
I'm not super knowledgeable on this, but it's probably because my root package has the systemless busybox. It's suppose to help pass safety net for the people playing Pokemon go. That's why I used it.
To do away with it, you could probably reflash the kernel, then flash SuperSu, then flash a Busybox that you like.
Let me know if that helps.

Here is a zip with kernel, root, and system Busybox. You can try and see if resolves your problem.

https://mega.nz/#!lscTHZaR!9DzBH9EpC6MKFjp1mlZe-kj0jca6mL6DE5VerK8h3-o

Before you posted this, I just re-flashed your root-busybox file, and that seems to have taken care of the problem, at least from what I can see now. The "BusyBox Checker" now sees busybox, as do a couple of other apps that previously did not.
The only remaining issue that I have may not be related to your excellent work. I cannot get the phone to connect 4G (LTE). 3G and WIFI are fine, but no 4G. The reason I say this may not be related to your ROM is that I just got the phone from a friend of mine a few weeks ago, and when I first installed my SIM, with a PK1 that I rooted with kingroot, it would not get a 4G connection. I was hoping that starting over with everything new would address this problem, but it didn't. Any suggestions on addressing the 4G issue? Thanks again!!

You are unlocked on gsm, correct?
If so then, we don't get Lte. The Sprint phone only has the sprint Lte bands activated unfortunately. Many of us have been trying to circumvent this, with no luck.
But we do have 4g HSPA+, BUT the sprint Rom will only show 3g icon. So don't worry. If you look in 'about phone' 'sim status ' you'll see it.
Nevermind that my pic shows H+ in corner, I'm testing any international Rom.

I actually am on Sprint's network. I had Sprint unlock it because I have used other SIMs when travelling internationally. Thanks!

I have also found that the phone will not save WIFI passwords. I have to re-enter the pw for my home WIFI everytime I get home. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks!
WOW! I have now discovered that I am unable to edit build.prop, despite permissions seeming correct (755). And the EFS partition appears empty, even after restoring from a recovery backup.

Sounds like you don't have root.
Is SuperSu showing on apps?
Are you using a file explorer with root support? Like "FX Explorer" or "ES file explorer". And then turn on root in the app settings.

Edit: If you find you don't have root, try reinstalling it.

Thanks very much for your reply. I definitely have root, and I am using both root explorer and es file explorer, and I have turned on root in both. I can see build.prop, and I can open build.prop, but I cannot save build.prop. I am also able to open build.prop with a build.prop editor, but I can't save changes. At least every root check and test I can think of tells my I have root. Is it possible that somehow my system partition is just not writeable?
I finally was able to make a change to build.prop, using GT Tools, but the change I made (adding "ro.secure.storage=false" per a post titled "My phone stopped remembering wifi passwords!" per a post on another site) hosed the phone and it wouldn't boot, so I had to restore the system partition.
I know that the EFS partition can't be empty, because the WIFI connections are there (about 15 of them) from a titanium restore, but I just can't save the passwords, and other info, like the sprint account info is there as well. but when I try to look in \EFS, I don't see anything.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your assistance very much!!

The EFS and data partitions always show empty, when you don't have root access. I don't know what you installed or any mods you made but something must have broke root access.
Do you have the SuperSu app? Can you open it? Are there apps listed in it? I've had gt tools and idone apps erase the SuperSu app before and had to reinstall.
If you don't have su app then you have no way to provide permission.
2nd. No, all system partitions are writable if you have root.

If you can't figure it out. Your gonna have to start fresh. Don't install anything extra. Check root at every step after installing it. When you start installing your other stuff, you have to check root access after every change, to figure what caused this. And when I say check root access, I mean open up a root file manager and try to edit your build.prop or something that lets you know it actually works.

SuperSU is there, I can open it, and it has apps listed, albeit not all the apps that are getting permission. For now, I have default access set to grant, so it doesn't nag me while I am working on this, but every time I open Titanium backup, or ES File explorer, I see the popup that root access is granted. I have just now turned on full logging in supersu so I can get a better handle on what is going on. I can see everything in the system partition, just not the efs partition. Any other suggestions on what logging I can turn on or look at to help understand where the problem is?
If I do go the long route, and start over fresh, where do you suggest I start? what I mean is, do you suggest I go back to a stock, non-rooted rom, and if so, how far back should I go? Of just reflash this QB3 rooted, de-odexed, rom? Thanks much!!

I don't know for sure but my best quess would be that you wouldn't have to Odin stock. Just do a full wipe in twrp (system, data, cache, dalvick)(internal if you have nothing of value on it). Then just install the Rom, the mod package (if you use), &root package. Reboot and install a root browser and check your results.
My bet is if you did a titanium backup restore, it messed it up. I've seen multiple post about it not working good for some roms. But what do i know. :)

Thanks for your quick replies today. I will probably give the reload a try, but I will have to wait for the weekend, as this is the phone I use for business. I will keep an eye on the logs until then, and let you know what I find. If Titanium Backup seems to be causing problems these days, is there anything that will work better? I bought the license like 6-7 years ago, when it was highly recommended all around, but if there is something better and/or less problematic, I would rather use that instead of relying on something that may be wreaking havoc.

I'm not sure. I like TiBa and never had problems. But I don't use it for restoring stuff. I've just noticed various post about it but I think it was mainly on the N7 ports. I think where it messes up is when your restore data is from like a completely differ Rom.
But this could all be from something else. I'm not too much more than a novice myself. I can cook some roms and modify and write scripts but I ain't a true dev that actually writes code. Not to put myself down, but I don't know everything.
Hope you get it figured out!

Am I blind, or is this not in the OP? Might be worth adding a link to it there and a mention in Post #3 so folks don't have to search for it.

I wonder if this mod would work for AOSP ROMs. I'm running a Verizon AOSP ROM right now with Sprint mods and use hotspot all the time for work. My hotspot is about 20x as fast as the Verizon hotspots we use, both dedicated and on the iPhones we have for work. Everyone around my work uses Verizon it seems, as their speeds crawl, compared to my 60+ Mbps speeds on Sprint. Joke's on them!

Anyway, Aaron, thank you for your work on this. Any ROM is better than what we get over OTA.
Just updating you, my work van broke down, damn electric short, i was busy fixing it. But I'll try to get to that hot spot mod tomorrow!

Edit: Here it is! Please TEST and let me know. Thanks!

    100% Stock, DeOdexed N910PVPS4DQB3
    With GSM Support!
    Now with Rom Control!

    First Off About Me:
First off, Let me state, I'm a full-time construction worker and also a full-time Dad. I'm not a Dev, like the peeps I learned from. So don't expect this Rom to get massive updates or often updates. My main purpose of this Rom is to deliver a Newer Stock Base for anyone to play with. But I do intend on adding small basic updates, as this interest me as a hobby! Thank You for your understanding, and Enjoy!

    About ROM
Warning: This ROM is ONLY for the Sprint SM-N910P!!! DO NOT FLASH THIS ROM ON ANY OTHER MODEL!!! If you do then you are on your own! Know what you are doing before flashing and modifying your phone!!! You have been Warned!! I am not responsible for your phone breaking or blowing up!!

It has come to my attention that not everyone would want Root or Any customizations. So what I did was supply a True 100% Stock Deodexed QB3 Rom with NO Mods, Except for being Knox and Its-On Free. You can use it alone or as a base to flash my other mods!!

    Version: 2.0
This is a "100% stock" build with no custom mods!
Fully deodexed framework and system apps
    Removed Knox
    Removed ItsOn
    Zip-Aligned
    100% Stock Kernel
    Software version: N910PVPS4DQB3
    Kernel: Official Samsung N910PVPS4DQB3

    ROM Features
This ROM will stay 100% STOCK besides above mentions. So this Rom could be used as a base for anyone who chooses. I do plan on releasing some minor updates of my own but They will be listed below!

    Changelog
    v2.0 Stock Released 03/15/2017

    ADD-ON Features!
Heres a little bit about what add-ons I have so far! No big write up on them, they are self explaining!

    1. GSM zip: Makes Rom work with GSM service! Removes some cdma stuff from CSC files. Removes unneeded apps. Replaces apns and build.prop edits.

    2. Mods zip: This installs all the modded framwork files. (ex. Advanced power menu, Open Once/Always) This one will get updated time to time, as I add stuff!! SEE POST 2 FOR MORE INFO!!

    3. Root zip: Installs Systemless SuperSU and Systemless Busybox.

    4. Hidden Apps: Restores Hidden Apps. (For Sprint only)

    Flashing instructions:
Before you flash this rom you should be on the N910PVPS4DQB3 firmware. Specifically the bootloader and modem. You can get that HERE! Flash it with ODIN!
Also, You need a custom recovery to Flash this Rom!

***Before you flash this rom, please make sure your battery has at least 30% charge***

    OK... Lets begin!
    1. Download the rom and all the other mods you want!
    2. Check the MD5!!! Use a MD5 checksum tool on your pc or phone (Google is your friend)
    3. Copy the downloaded files to your phone's internal storage or micro-sd card
    4. Backup anything you need to backup from your internal storage and copy it to your pc or sd-card
    5. Reboot to TWRP custom recovery. Do "Advanced Wipe" options and wipe Dalvick-Cache, System, Data, and Cache. I also advise deleting /Android directory from Internal storage and SD card!
    6. Install the rom!
    7. Dont Reboot If Installing any Mods.
    8. Install Mods in this Order following ROM:
    a. GSM FIX(If your using GSM) or Hidden Apps Fix(If Sprint)

    c. ROOT ZIP!
    9. REBOOT!!
    10. The initial boot process will take around 12 minutes. Please be patient. It WILL boot.
    11. The phone might reboot once from SuperSU.
    12. Once you reach the setup wizard proceed as usual and setup your phone.
    13. You're done! Enjoy!! :D

    Nice!

Thanks @aaron74 I know we've had some requests for latest rooted stock ROM.

This sounds like what they're looking for. With developers leaving and Note 4 closing in on EOL, this device needs more developers. Best wishes for success and your endeavor to learning more.
