edit: this is a bit of a longshot, but maybe double check that the HDMI connection on your phone is clean? Kind of like the SNES days with the game cartridges :).
It's not the HDMI, it's a USB issue. That's why no keyboard, mouse, etc. The display shows webtop fine.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be sorted today. I wondered if the "B" in the serial number denoted B-stock. Guess i will find out.

<edit> Motorola escalation team cannot find the serial number for my lapdock in the system and have placed a ticket which will take up to 72 hours to come back. I will update as I find out more given that this type of situation could exist for others.

strange.
I just registered my lapdock (serial# starts with 'B'), left out the 6 0s at the end. Moto website verified the serial#, warranty status is "In Warranty", warranty end date is 6/15/2013.
Maybe go back in and check your device is still listed on their website. I registered mine initially, but then it disappeared from the system. Hopefully there is a Moto screw up somewhere and it's just me who will have problems.

Motorola have sent me FedEx return shipping labels so I can send in the lapdock, which I will do today, so I should know next week what the deal is with this. They still can't identify the serial number, and maintain it should not begin with the letter "B".

received mine today.

I have two devices, probably going to install a rom that has lapdock capabilities, what one would be the best?
Asking which one is "best" is going to give you a lot of varying responses. I would like to know which mods do have the lapdock capabilities

I see some people in this thread are using Cyogenmod and I thought that ROM did NOT support these docks.

You could always try TabletUI with CM9 as standard webtop was always to sluggish for me.

I don't know about you, but my Lapdock came with spanish instructions. My guess is that these were to be sold for overseas but somehow that dude on EBay got his mits on 'em.

Nothing wrong with that -- my lapdock arrived today and works fine, but that might be why Moto can't find a valid serial #? Maybe the U.S. techs only have access to a serial # database that is US based.

My lapdock was delivered to Motorola in Elgin, IL this morning, so we will see what the next couple of days tells me about it. I am pretty sure it's a "country of origin/sale" thing. Just funny they can't find the "B" serial numbers in the system, and they checked both NA and Latin America.

Glad yours is working.

Mine was fine except for the USB, and from what I have read it may be as simple as the connector just isn't sticking out of the lapdock far enough.

Well that's odd, defectives are a pain too.

Well anyway I've noticed that while browsing around I saw that the Lapdock has stereo speakers. However on Joker 5.0 (yes I enabled HDMI thru audio) that when you play Ringtones, notifications, and alarms sound comes out through the phone speaker but when you media & games no sound comes out at all. Is that normal?

Lapdock experience

I ordered mine from the $60 sale, the tracking numbers they gave me never worked, but it only took about 2 days to arrive. I did notice the instructions were in Spanish, which made me laugh since I could read them and only realized it after a few sentences. The box was all in english though.

As far as ROMs that work with it, any of the ones based off of the stock and current Blur ROM should work perfectly, though I would recommend looking for updated/fixed versions of the webtop. I started using one of the CM9 Kangs, and it would just do HDMI mirroring, but the resolution was so far off that it made text on websites impossible to read. I'm not sure what the status of CM7 builds are in regards to the webtop, but I don't think that's really being developed. The tabletUI is cool, but I didn't like the way it looked when just on my phone. You have to figure though that our phones are due to received ICS, or whatever Blur version of ICS motorola is going to "bless" us with, and that the Ubuntu/Webtop UI is going to get tossed for a combination ICS phone/tablet UI.

Read back a couple of pages. There is an ongoing saga over the serial number.

I know what you're talking about (been following the thread for awhile), I'm talking about how your USB ports didn't work and therefore your Lapdock was technically defective o-o

Anyway be awesome if someone could port Webtop 3.0 Beta from the Razr.

Off-topic: building new computer n just ordered parts hopefully none are defective.

Friend just got the 2 docks, he checked them over and said they were factory new, spanish manuals. I'll get them in a couple of days.

I love this thing I don't know how much my panasonic toughbook will get used anymore. Thanks for posting the link or I would have never got it for $60 bucks. Now if I could just get the other docks I wanr.;) Also mine has the B infront of the serial number too.

Check again and I think you will find the manuals are in Brazilian Portuguese, not Latin American Spanish or Mexican Spanish, (If your serial number begins with a B). I am starting to think the B denotes Brazilian as Motorola told me they should start with A or AC which makes me think America or America/Canada. (Sticker on the box will probably show Colombian, Argentinian, and Brazilian customer service numbers). They have finally assigned a RMA number to my lapdock, but still cannot find the serial number in their system anywhere.

The box mine came in was probably 24"x24"x18" and had a couple of pieces of bubble wrap in it. The actual lapdock box was just flopping around inside there was so much space in the box.
