Just bought a N86B/DS here in Indonesia. The Baseband is N986BXXU3DUK8. I have flashed a few phones in my time but am NOT a developer and have not been paying Attention since I rooted my Note 9 and installed Dr K ROM maybe 3 years back.

What is the easiest, softest User Friendly way to Root and get DR K Android 12 ROM up and running. Should I let the phone update itself automatically from version 11 to version 12 from the carrier or should I update via flashing and if so in what order?

Appreciate all feedback on this matter

Update ur phone to 12 via odin.... Root it..flash twrp and format and then flash dr ketan rom..

Hi Guys,

I have updated my updated my N986B as suggested by Dr. Ketan, I am now on N986BXXU3FVC5. I am getting ready to install Dr Ketan Rom, Dr Ketan said I can use the Rooting method mentioned in the ROM Installation guide, not the more complicated way linked from his website. I am reading through the change log, the PDF Installation guide from May 14 and also quite a few pages from this thread as well.

I have some questions before moving forward:

1. According to the “Official TWRP 3.6.1-* For Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra” thread, when flashing TWRP I must also flash AVB disabled vbmeta .tar. Is this correct?
2. How to flash Muti-disabler, I assume in TWRP?

Bootloader unlocked, TWRP and multi-disabler installed and I did a full swipe. I am unable to boot into the system which i assume is not a problem as it directs me directly to TWRP.

For installation of S07 hava a few questions after reading instructions etc:

1. My CSC is not OXM, it is OLE. So what is recommended that I do in this case? I am in Indonesia with XID version.
2. Tweaks Pro and ROM tool are installed as part of installation, yes?
3. I saw suggestions from last year to backup IMEI, is that still suggested and if so at what point of installation (Possibly too late?)?

So, @dr.ketan, Installing official firm with the patched twrp in userdata slot I guess is the quickest way of having last version with the option to root the device and install a new kernel if wanted.

Only question is, do I need to install the multidisabler and then "format data" in order to decrypt the data and being able of installing a custom kernel and rooting the device ?
Would I do this just before first reboot ?

I really love your kernel, but as long as I had an adb script to debloat (https://www.droidwin.com/debloat-remove-bloatware-from-samsung-devices-via-adb/#Knox_Apps) and a way of installing a custom kernel, I am done ....

If you flash twrp with patch vbmeta and reboot to TWRP and straightway flash rom and then format data before booting your device, You don't needs to flash multidisabler as it is already included in rom. Alternatively flash twrp + patched vbmeta and reboot to TWRP and flash multidisabler and then flash magisk - format data and boot device for stock rooted rom. Later you can flash rom when needed.
Regarding custom kernel7, really I have never used nor I have idea what options are available for that. Also to note, rom doesn't have "my kernel" it's just Samsung's stock

I flashed S07 but must have made some sort of mistake along the way. After I unlocked the Bootloader and flashed TWRP and Multidisabler and did complete wipe, my system would not boot, it would get an error message and go directly into TWRP,

I decided to go ahead and try and Flash S07 anyways. I used first option, not Aroma option, was this correct? As your file did not includes XID CSC from Indonesia, I skipped that step when flashing

When it was time to flash the files in ODIN, I used the latest Home CSC file I had which was version HOME_CSC_OLE_N986BOLE3FVC5. After flashing all 4 files in Odin and try to boot into system, I get the message on top of the screen "KERNEL REV. CHECK FAIL: DEVICE 4. BINARY: 3 (BOOT).

I cannot boot system though I can get into DOWNLOAD and into TWRP. Attached is an image of the information on top of the DOWNLOAD screen.

I tried to follow all the instructions but must have done something wrong or perhaps version 3.3 of the multidisabler is not good and I should have used your 3.1 version instead?

That msg showing you are on higher rom then rom. What parts of rom you already have flashed?
If super.img and setup 07 zip you already flashed then try flashing bootloader and modem from download area if it allow you to flash
Also needs to format data (not factory reset data but FORMAT DATA) from twrp

Ok, I see.
My point was downloading official firm, and in Odin fullfill the bl,cp,ac,csc and userdats slots in that way.

Doing so and rebooting, data would be encryoted.
But if I uncheck the autoreboot option and run the multidisabker and format data, official instalation would start with no problem, right ?

I followed all the instructions from MAY 14th PDF File from Stock Non rooted ROM and Option 2A.

Flash TWRP
Flash Multi-disabler
FULL WIPE

Copy files to SD Card and check MD5
Install Super.IMG
Format Data (type yes)
Install DrKetanROM Zip file (First I try Aroma but dont understand, then I reflash with first option before Aroma). So was possible double flash?
I unchecked CSC option since ROM did not have Indonesia XID inside.
After Flash, I went to ODIN and flash 4 files from Download screen:

1. AP_DrKetan_N986BXXS4FVD6.tar.md5
2. BL_DrKetan_N986BXXS4FVD6.tar.md5
3. CP_N986BXXS4FVD6_CP22036176_MCL23825270_MQB51194751_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
4. HOME_CSC_OLE_N986BOLE3FVC5_CL23723846_QB49859869_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

The only different filer that I flashed was Multi-Disabler 3.3 (Instead of Multi-Disabler 1.1 in your Download package) AND I used the Home CSC above from Stock ROM I downloaded.

I just tried you new suggestions above.

1. FORMAT DATA
2. Flash BL & CP in ODIN

Still get same message when booting into system. The Binary did change though on the download screen (See attached). I am not a developer so I assume I did something wrong along the way?

Maybe better to handle this in Telegram so not do clutter the thread?

Did you choose to complete rom setup in aroma? If not you can do it now with existing setup and see if boots

I did not complete ROM setup in Aroma. How do i get there, by flashing S07 again?

In case that does not work, should I chose a Non Indonesian version of N986BXXS4FVD6. When I search in Friya for SM-N986B with XID CSC, all it finds is N986BXXS3FVC8/N986BOLE3FVC5/N986BXXU3FVC5?
