1/4 touch screen is not working - any thoughts?

The top right corner of my Note 10+ 's display is working BUT the touch screen is not. I used 2 apps to test the touch screen (see attached) and that confirmed my fears.

Do i assume it is a hardware issue or otherwise? i assume i need the screen changed, and i suspect getting a used/refurbished note10+ might be more cost effective.

Please assist with your thoughts and how this might be resolved (easily)

no cracks no nothing - 2inch by 1inch area doesnt work.

everything else is good. display still works ...etc..

Try in Developer Options > Pointer locations will give you a higher res idea.
Did an odd shaped corner crack or are there strict horizontal and vertical border?

and yes i tried pointer location, it shows the same area as not being detectable.
:(
Well, what are the exact coordinates? Are they significant numbers? Like binary overflow? 511 - 512, for example.
Can you get to recovery? Can you see the problem there?
Can you cat /dev/input/event0 (or 1, 2, 3...) and see your touches?

3.i dont know how to do the icode thing you mentioned. can u pls elaborate?

If you have rooted ADB shell you can do that command.
It will print out garbage, but you can see if it reacts the same for the corner as elsewhere.
If you have ADB in recovery that would be a good check.

It's possible that some rogue transparent overlay is eating the touches, but the "Pointer location" should still work.
It's less than the right half so some simple failure is not clear. It also doesn't extend the full height (or even exactly half the height).

yes its less than a quarter of the screen.

my phone is not rooted

might it be easiest just to factory reset?

not sure we can tell if it is a hardware issue?

You can always try a factory reset. I don't think that it will help, but hey.

Me, I'd probably check the I²C test points on the capacitive touch sensor with a logic analyzer or oscilloscope.
It's such a weird corner that I doubt that it's a misconfiguration of the sensor.
I'm beginning to think that it's some creeping contamination between layers.
Keep an eye on it if it slowly gets worse.

That's why I want a really good definition of the bounds.
Use your drawing program with a really small paintbrush and try to draw the edges really well.

interesting deveopment, when i use my s-pen i can click that space and it works, and i can see the dot on the screen move no issues. but not with finger.

so i guess it isnt a hardware issue right? unless s-pen works differently (not sure)

so the orange is random lines, blue is bottom to top, green is left to right and grey is with the s-pen (no issues using the pen)

hmmmmm.... so it shouldn't be a hardware issue is what i am thinking. and hopefully a factory reset should work
🤯😵💫🥴

Mmm, I'm not sure that drawing lines is the best way to qualify this.
Or where you using a normal "paintbrush"?
You should be able to easily wiggle yourself around the border.
The blue and green being different are confusing.

I presume this S-pen is using different technology, like Wacom or something?
Get yourself a dollar store stylus, just one of those crappy little round nubs on a stick.
Is there a difference between your finger and the stylus?
