If you actually pick up and use an Xperia Z... it's very bright and colourful. If you go into the gallery or watch videos and BE2 kicks in... it's INSANELY beautiful.

Here are some pictures I took VERY quickly... Ignore the badly put on screen protector, I wacked it on quickly to prevent the ASF being scratched until my proper one arrives.

On approx 30% brightness

This picture was taken out of a car doing approx 50mph, I don't think the camera I used to take a picture of the phone focused 100% as it looks much better.

Viewing angles my friend, viewing angles.

If viewing angles mean that much to you then I suggest you see a doctor and one with particular expertise in mental health.

More reasons to buy this phone, and well my entire experience overall....

Coming from a HTC One XL after being an entirely exclusive HTC owner, this phone is built much sturdier, my HTC Desire's port had broken, which led me to the one XL which also broke the same way. (Resoldered new ports and they're fine but any excuse to try a new phone) The screen is really sharp, if you really want to test it i suggest a bluray DVD rip. The sound from the speaker was a bit of a let down but the output audio (from AUX) is amazing, crisp and bassy or you can adjust it how you'd like. The battery life isn't the *BEST* but it's still impressive (This all on stock rom/kernel) The camera is amazing (Dont need to say more than that about it) The phone's speed and multi tasking capabilities are unmatched as far as my experience goes.

That concludes my views ;)

Seems like viewing angles became a big deal when Xperia Z was launched. Guess the paid off reviewers had to find something negative, so made one up.
I have never had any viewing angle issues. I just love the fact I can actually see what's on the screen in sunlight;)
Spent 3/4 of my time cupping the s3 to see anything. Lol. Now that's a screen con.

Yeah, I held my ZL next to an iphone 5 and HTC One in the sunlight. You couldn't read a damn thing off their screens, but my ZL was clear and easy to read. Everyone else noticed it too and they hate Sony phones lol

Guys, you may think they invented viewing angle to hurt your phones rep, but it is a far old topic to your hurt feelings. I concur that phones are meant to be looked straight on by the owner, but for many time, this has been subject of evaluation when reviewing a new device. Its part of the evolution of devices. Still super lcd2 is the best, lol.

Yeah. I'll admit My OneX screen had better viewing angles than Xperia z, only slightly mind you, but the overall experience is so much better on the Sony.
And it seems viewing angles only affect the people that DON'T own it.
Now. Would you take slightly washed out colours on a 75% angle with awesome sunlight resolution over this???

I agree with a caveat. Why are manufacturers so hung up on a viewing angle when they should be spending their R&D time and finance on some thing relevant to the product like battery life? Good viewing angle or poor viewing angle are inconsequential when the battery runs out in less than 12 hours or so!

Again, good viewing angles are only useful when watching media content together or playing games like Temple Run. Yet, when playing Temple Run, it doesn't come to a point of annoyance that I can't see where I'm running! Everything is still visible and playable. My phone does what it is supposed to do until now.

i've moved to Xperia Z from GS3 and although the colors are not as bright as GS3 but that works for me considering all the other advantages. Infact now it seems to me that the colors on GS3 were too much bright so i like them better this way

I love this phone especially for it being waterproof (Whenever it gets dirty, a quick wash is all it takes to make it look brand new) and it's shape and size. I was using a Note 2 and it takes 2 hands to operate. With the XZ, i could do most of my task with only 1 hand.

The only issue with this phone is the battery life. That is my only concern. I have to use apps like DS battery pro to get the most out of my battery.
