As for Anime it has to be VLC or nothing, and even then there always some break up.

Again, I would like to out that BSPlayer is an option here. The interface can be better and it sucked the battery away from my GNex at full brightness (like everything else), but it has played everything I threw at it without issues and without any special plugins for subs.
