i am trying to restore to mj5 (ive done it twice already). when i get to the heimdall frontend. and hit start, it only begins to download the PIT file then i get an error. i am not sure what to do. i am trying to restore to mj5 so i can upgrade to kitkat. any help would be appreciated.

As long u made that far , it will be the files issue , be sure to re- download this two files :HLTE_USA_ATT_32G.pit and : MI9_fix.img.ext4 ( that is the one i got an issue with before) use mirror # 1 or 4 it works for me , and be sure the file match : 8C623708833D06921735D700ADB3B11A
if you used the program i attached.

Hope it works use u

is your phone in download mode?
from heimdall-suite-1.4.0-win32\Suite\Drivers folder did you run zadig.exe and select from options menu List All drivers then pick MSM8960

In Heimdall did you ADD system and select MI9_fix.img.ext4

it is hard to help when we cannot see your screen results..

but to get to recovery you hold down power, menu and up-volume button

same as you do for download mode, except you hold up-volume

also if you make it to the AT&T animation screen give your phone time to install

the second link under the mi9 file is gone from mega website
If you read about a page back, that file is not needed. It is just a mirror for the MI9_fix.img.et4 file.

I have a couple questions about restoring my phone using this method, just read through the whole thread, but I am not 100% clear on it and do not want to mess my phone up further. I am stuck with a problem, that I think was caused by performing a factory reset while rooted, with some apps removed using Titanium Back Up. I keep getting an error of "AT&T Ready2Go Stopped working" and cannot get into settings or anything on the phone.

I am already on the stock MJ5 firmware, do I still need to download all of the files and start at step 1? Or can I skip downloading the MI9_fix file? The reason I ask is that I am on a 1.5MB DSL connection, currently showing 9 hours to download that one file. I get the feeling I still need all the files, but am hoping I can get things working sooner rather than later.

Thanks.

Will this downgrade method work for a AT&T US Note 3 that got automatically updated to NB4? Thanks.
I downgraded from the kitkat release but I have not been able to update to the latest OTA update. I have even hard reset the phone numerous times and still haven't been able to update. I followed the instructions to a T but still no go for me.

I keep getting the error message software update interrupted. Tried calling AT&T as well to try and push the update to me but they were not able to do it either.

Update

I was finally able to get the software update by clearing the cache in the AT&T Software update app.

You can do this by going to Settings > General > Application Manager > Slide over to All > Sellect AT&T software update > Clear the cache. Should allow you to update now.

were you having problems dowbloading it or actually installing it? i get to 21% install and it fails then reboots

Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I was having problem actually even downloading it. Was finally able to do that. Is your device rooted? What firmware version are you on?

evilpotatoman - I cannot thank you enough, my phone (likely through user error) was stuck with an AT&T app crashing constantly causing the phone to be completely unusable. Thankfully, following the instructions you posted I now have a working phone again!! The instructions seem daunting at first, but gave me no real problems.
