Well I followed instructions and it worked like a charm. Was soft Bricked and now on mj5 (base and build).

Now I'm not sure if this is related but when I try to run an update check for ota it says update interrupted try again in 24 hours.

I tried rolling the date forward with no success and keto getting that message. Any ideas?

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP ASKING FOR THIS FILE????

ITS A MIRROR OF THE MI9 Fix. You dont need it twice.
a) it's not clear in the instructions that that's the same file as the link above

b) that link is broken and leads to nothing, causing more confusion

I followed these directions precisely, and I get this result in Heimdall every time:

Uploading SYSTEM
0%
ERROR: Failed to send file part packet!
ERROR: SYSTEM upload failed!

I tried downloading the MI9_fix.img.ext4 multiple times from different sources to ensure it wasn't corrupt. I tried it from 2 different PCs. It always fails. There's a tiny nib of a download line on my phone's Odin mode screen when I start the transfer, and then it stops there and fails.

Nevermind... it was a bad USB cord. Apparently it went bad in the midst of my dozens and dozens of attempts to get rid of the Custom device status.

MIne works fine, after restore Stock run, 4.3 update was detected, rebooted, checked again and 541.77 MB of KitKat is downloading at this moment. Hoping if is something good, or will go back to root again.

I think you missed some of the steps.

IMO the quickest way of getting back to MJ5 if you have issues is just to go to ATT device support center and have them reflash your device where you won't run into any errors. They shouldn't give you errors at all while in recovery. If they do, just re-download the files. If you aren't stuck in a bootloop, try getting to the settings then go to general then click on about. Make sure the build version and the baseband version are MJ5. If the build version isn't MJ5, then that means the 2400258 file didn't get flashed at all.
I don't think they'll touch it and if they do they'd certainly charge since it's no longer a "stock" device and probably has a technically voided warranty.

Going to have to figure it out or use a computer the usb ports work on correctly.

I have done this restore without any issues before, but now I cannot get the 2400258 file to flash. It says "signature verification failed". I am stuck with the MI9 build and the MJ5 baseband. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I got the phone to restore without issues but now i cant download any of the latest firmwares i was trying to download the 38.47mb file thats the pre file to im assuming kitkat 4.4, it downloads ok but when it goes to install in recovery mode it gets to 25% and fails i have done this several times with no success any way to fix this issue to i can download and install firmware files again?

UPDATE: Response here was a bit to long and did not feel like creating a new post over it, long story short took the phone to the ATT repair center and had them reflash a CLEAN 4.3 firmware the phone is now Updating to 4.4 Kitkat.

check your build and baseband and make sure they are both on MJ5. I was getting that error when my Build was MI9 and my baseband was MJ5. I had to redownload the 2400258 file and it has fixed the problem.
