@singularty when you look at the pictures hub, the banding is less then on nodo... So I fear that IS their fix... :( But it is still less better then with the registry hack.

Damn... fixed this on my HTC Trophy with the registry hack, but now after installing Dev preview of Mango on my phone, the banding is back !!!!

AND the registry hack progs are banned also....
There is no banding in the Mango OS or in 1st party apps, but in 3rd party apps banding is back, yes. This may be fixed when they are recompiled for mango, I suppose.

I will say that image degradation is back in places For example, the wallpapers I have been using don't look nearly as good as they did with the 32 bit reg hack. The Bing search background isn't as crisp either. Again, this is a beta release so we'll see, but anything less than 32 bit support across the platform is unacceptable to me

I'm on Mango final (RTM, 7720, OMNIA 7, dev unlocked through provxml and GPRS settings method) and, as some of you mentioned, the banding is back (partially because first party apps seem to have addressed the problem). But the worst part is that the registry tweak no longer works :( I guess we'll have to deal with it.

Final Mango doesn't have the problem.
But if you still have it, this is how you fix it:
Roll all the way back to 7004, or 7008

Install Advanced Config the latest version and click the "Fix 16-Bit banding Issue" inside the apps"
And then upgrade to no-do then Mango.
It work for me since i still have my HD7 with Mango ISV beta.
