Update on TWRP for N20 (A12)

I have fixed some glitch were there and primarily seems all good (adb, MTP, Backup, Flashing zip so far tried). Waiting for nod from ianmacd so I can share with users meanwhile he make his final version.
Indeed this TWRP is A11 N20 TWRP by Ian, I have just made some modification to use on A12.

Here is TWRP for N986B OneUI 4.0 beta (Android 12). TWRP is originally same as released by @ianmacd , I have made some changes to use on A12 and sharing here with his kind permission.

Installation :

On Stock ROM : Download TWRP and extract it (to get *tar.md5) and flash extracted file with AP tab of Odin - Flash Multidisabler - Format (full formate device which requires to type 'yes' to confirm) - Flash Magisk canary - Reboot device

On DrKetan ROM SB1 : Download TWRP - Extract (to get *.tar.md5) and Flash extracted file with AP tab of Odin - That's it.

PS : To reboot to TWRP, you must connect device to PC and Keep holding Vol Up + Power (side key) . On Dr.Ketan ROM, you can use recovery QS Panel toggle to reboot to TWRP without any combo key/PC connection

I was planning for SB2 after getting working TWRP but just I have read that Beta test programme ended for N20 for new users. So may be we are close to stable realease. I think better to wait few days for stable rather than moving for SB2

ChangeLog Q01 For N986B

- Based on N986BXXU1ATH3 1Aug security patch
ROM features are same as mention on Post #1

Some Important things to note -

• This ROM is tested only on N986B If any N985 users want to test, can try on your own risk. Report outcome and I may try to fix.
• TWRP is Included in ROM itself. Credit & Thanks to Geiti for TWRP
• This is first version and needs to flash using Odin, subsequent version may have different scenario. Read Installation guide below for details
• This is first release, There may be more fix/features there in subsequest releases.

Recommended Installation Steps


Requirement :
- Rooted N986B based on Aug security patch
- It is must to have root using Full AP Magisk + Patched kernel shown on this thread. If you have rooted with only patched kernel then you must first root with full AP magisk patch file + Patched kernel as shown on linked thread.
- Odin 3.14.4 or above

Installation :

- Backup your data, this procedure will erase all data including Int storage.
- Download N986B_DrKetan_ROM_Q0*.zip and extract to PC
- Boot device to download mode (Switch Off device - Keep holding Vol Up + Down & connect to PC with USB)
- Open Odin - Disable Auto Reboot in Option
- Click AP tab and navigate to file you have downloaded & extracted N986B_DrKetan_ROM_Q0*.tar.md5
- Click Start and when it completes, disconnect mobile and keep holding Vol down+Side Key for 7 sec, as soon as device screen goes off, use combo key to reboot to recovery
- Now you will have TWRP - Select Wipe - click FORMAT DATA - You need to type "yes" to continue
- When finish, Reboot to system

ROM specific Instructions.

• • Once device boot to android, straightway do following things before setting up device further
  • Check Magisk Manager is installed. If there, Open it and complete environment setup (Device must be connected to internet) - Reboot. In case Magisk Manager not installed, get latest stable from magisk gut hub and install manually and follow as said.
  • Open Magisk, settings - enable magisk hide. Also recommended to turn of supersu notification while setting up.
  • Open ROM Tool - It will ask to Apply Essential Fix, Complete it and Reboot.

Now you can set up your device as per your desire. Enjoy!


Tips, Add On & Fix

- Stuck while flashing something (Bootloop), How can I reboot to download
There is a golden rule that always works when you stuck anywhere (bootloop). Follow this -
1.Plugin device to PC
2.Keep holding power + vol down
3.As soon as screen goes blank, keep holding vol up + vol down (here you needs to be quick)
And you are in download mode.

- EdXposed You can directly install from Magisk download repositories

- Unable to login to samsung ac : I have observed recently in one condition, restoring a backup that includes samsung acc. I have encountered this once and fixed by installing Samsung Members and logged in with that. By using this app, it showing "your session is expired login again" after this it was worked. Another possibility is, few users have reported some version of custom kernel was causing issue with samsung acc.

- Read ROM Tool - Update & Fix if any new available.

Hi,

Im a Tweaks Pro user and i have 3 issues atm, if I can get some support on this would be greatly appreciated.

My device is a SM-N986B/DS with the 4.0 ui room

1. Magisk Hide is gone, wont stay set, i know john who disabled it, any way to revert, i'm on App 23.0 ho do i hide my root from my banking apps please help with this urgently if possible
2. Battery drain is worse than it was on room 420 any way I can improve that
3. Camera shutter sound won't silence still can here it, doesn't apply
