Got stuck in Odin at recovery.img step for unusually long. is this normal?
Please try magisk 19.3 to build the patched tar, it works for meit worked fine when i flash the stock firmware but got stuck at recovery.img when flashing magisk_patched.tar
Don't forget, UNLOCKED MODEL does not mean BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. They are completely different things. What carrier or model number do you have? I'm using the unlocked model and don't have anything.
I knew that about what "unlocked" means. I'm curious though, why can the unlocked model not be rooted? Is this then the Qualcomm model that never seems to get rooted? Or are those two things unrelated.Don't forget, UNLOCKED MODEL does not mean BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED. They are completely different things.
UNLOCKED MODEL means you the device is not locked to a carrier - you can use it on ATT, TMOBIle etc.
Bootloader Unlocked means device can be rooted - with teh bootloader unlocked follling the steps outlined in the OP. If you have a N975 U or N975U1 device, IT CANNOT BE ROOTED. Period.
This is simple, some unlock model can not unlock bootloader, that why it cant be rooted.I knew that about what "unlocked" means. I'm curious though, why can the unlocked model not be rooted? Is this then the Qualcomm model that never seems to get rooted? Or are those two things unrelated.
Well, yes, I got that. But why? Is it a lack of software access to the boot loader or something? And is it only the Qualcomm devices? In the past Qualcomm devices have been unrooted so I thought there might be a relationship there. My unlocked S7 was an Exynos variant with an unlockable boot loader so silly me thought my unlocked Note 10 would also be the Exynos variant. Basically I'm mildly annoyed right now and just trying to come up with an answer to why. This is simple, some unlock model can not unlock bootloader, that why it cant be rooted.
I can't give you the full technical explanation, but it started when Samsung locked the bootloader on the S4 for ATT. Initially an exploit was available to get around it but that was fixed and ever since the bootloader has increasingly been locked down by Samsung on Att, Verizon and then TMobile. Then all Samsung Snapdragon models in the US and (Canada i think) had been locked down.Well, yes, I got that. But why? Is it a lack of software access to the boot loader or something? Thanks for the explanation, with that in mind I guess it's worth figuring out now which models use the Qualcomm chip and which use the Exynos chip, like by Carrier not Model Number so we can more easily tell before buying one. As I thought buying the unlocked one would get me the "international" variant as it did my S7 Edge.I can't give you the full technical explanation, but it started when Samsung locked the bootloader on the S4 for ATT. It is part of the Knox Security that prevents people from using a Custom Kernel - and or rooting the phone - why did they do i t? For security reasons - a phone with an unlocked boootloader is vulnerable to attack. Why is Snapdragon locked and Exynos not locked? I honestly don't know but am grateful at least one variant can still be rooted.
It's same since last couple of flagship. Device model suffix F & N (e.g. N975F) are exynos and easily rootable while U are snapdragon and can not root. Thanks for the explanation, with that in mind I guess it's worth figuring out now which models use the Qualcomm chip and which use the Exynos chip, like by Carrier not Model Number so we can more easily tell before buying one. Hi Dr. Any news on twrp release pls.[emoji2956][emoji2956]It's same since last couple of flagship. Device model suffix F & N (e.g. N975F) are exynos and easily rootable while U are snapdragon and can not root.
Best are "F" as it is international version and mostly without carrier restrictions. Specifically with OXM csc.
Instructions will remain same. You have to download stock firmware according your device model. What about the regular Note 10? Any ideas when the root is ready for that device?
If time permits, I will post efs backup tool todayHi Dr. , I know that you have your Holidays, so take your Time. The EFS Backup you mentioned in the OP, is there a link somewhere to download, or do you have to write something that we can use it ?
Also that working secure folder. Do you have to do something for us to make it work, or can we do this by following a universal guide like the root guide ?
Happy Holidays and thanks for the root how-to.

Open the root directory and select mount r/w tabHello Dr.Ketan
Thanks for the root work/guide. It worked first go. Only issue, I have no write access to system partition.
Magisk seems to work. Titanium backup restored data and apps. When I use Root Explorer or Solid explorer, I can see the root and browse everywhere but can't modify anything.
Is this the situation at the moment, or is it just me.
