I dont have Dex but as I know, I work with root.

I'm getting stuck flashing the custom binaries, it says "DTBO" in the square at the top and the last entry in the log is system.img



I've got 10+ 5g (N976B) and downloaded the firmware from SamMobile, specifically this one - N976BXXU1ASH5/285771.



I've tried the suggestions here (factory reset, reboot a few times to download mode, different computers/cables etc) but I can't seem to get passed this bit, any other ideas? Next step is downloading firmware from elsewhere but I can't really do that until tomorrow.

Did you turn on OEM? Without OEM, you cant do anything.

Because if your phone rooted before, then you will not ask. Other risks mentioned in OP.

My phone now HTC U11 rooted, so I don't use samsung stuff, like samsung pay etc.
Already get the Note 10+ on 22nd August, but not yet open it, still BNIB.
Want to make sure it can be rooted, and xposed module can be installed, before I open it. If not, want to sell it..

So far tested
- twrp available and working
- root working
- secure folder can be patched
- Samsung pay and pass probably never work once rooted
Alternate to that
Use Samsung Gear watch for Samsung pay if you own watch
Use Google auto fill
- some bank app or any app that detect root can not work (here all depends on app you want to use and no universal rule applies

Yeah and it was greyed out, I've got it working now though there must have been something up with the firmware, I re-downloaded it from Frija (miles faster download) and that has worked

It should be quite simple eh? Just patch twrp on magisk and use dd ? (Prob put the whole command in the first post? With fixed source img like at /sdcard/recovery_patched.img ?)

May be making simple apk
Simply click and done no need of dd. It will use same source as magisk output.

Yeah that would work fine. Anyways. You didn't see my message back then. I was just asking. Do I need to hide root for Samsung gear app to work or no?

Also you should prob add another guide on how to root with twrp. So all in one flash . Like putting the patched twrp inside the patched AP so that on 1 Odin flash you'll have both twrp and magisk. Also I think it'd be nice to mention where to get the multidisabler thing for others new here so that they won't have problems later on with root and oem unlock. Thanks!

Yes, i installed TWRP. First i tried to install it with ODIN after complete install of the rom following your guide. But it seems that something "destroys" the data of the rom, there are bootloops after that. Then i installed TWRP (MAGISK_PATCHED) by replacing the "recovery.img" in my "magisk_patched". I also installed "Note_10_Multidisabler_v2". But i'm not sure yet, whether it's fully alright by now, i'm still testing...

Edit: after I took a nandroid backup in TWRP, i rebootet, and now i have lost root. Magisk is deinstalled, although i reinstalled it with TWRP.......

By rebooted . You mean normal reboot. Or reboot with the special combination to boot using magisk?

Yes, i rebooted to "SYSTEM" from TWRP. But i will try to boot with the combination, although thast wasn't necessary before.

Reboot may caused it. You need to use combo key to reboot to system with magisk. Simple reboot will ended by system reboot without magisk

Hey Doc thanks so much for this appreciate all your work as usual. Checked out the TWRP guide and now totally confused, not that unusual for me!

This would be fantastic and if you could include multidisabler (V3 is now out, mind you not sure what it does, think it lets you boot into root with having to hold down keys...I think).

There isn't one and as far as I can tell from all the reading I have done recently to root my phone it might not be available for sometime if at all.

So I was wondering about the unlocked (exynos) it's been a few years since I had an unlocked international moldel note 5 and even though it technically worked in tmobile it would always missed calls and I would get voice-mail afterwards (if they left a message that is) also the data was always really inconsistent. Is this still the same case for the unlocked exynos? I am assuming that is the international model.

Well, if you choose American variant models, so please accept the fact that those models cannot root forever (may be, may be not).
So if you want to root and use cook rom, please choose international Exynos models.

Ok, samsung pay not work after rooted...
I want to ask for other apps like bank application, I heard that root or not root can be on/off when booting time (with combination key/not).
Is it possible we make the apps that not working on rooted phone, temporary works with no combination key when booting (no root), and back again with combination key booting, for access root again after that.
