It would be quite a deal if it wasn't completely impossible at this point

I'm sure a product of this type is possible, companies like sandisk, Samsung, Hynix and Toshiba will probably have them tucked away in their office for testing and to release them onto the market at the right time.

---------- Post added at 08:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 AM ----------

'Jonathon' 'Dodge' proper scam name to go with a scam product. Love you jammy dodger. I so hope this is a scam

Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I won't really call him a scam unless you can prove otherwise.
Myself and other hope this will turn out right as we're looking forward to seeing a 128GB/256GB card to be available on the market sometime soon.

As much as I wished this was for real my feeling is this is a scam. Go look at the Resellers on that page and every single store listed has nothing to do with the type of item he is selling. Thanks but no thanks!

Jonathon, I live in Adelaide and am interested in buying one of these cards.
I cant seem to find where to pay shipping,is it free shipping Australia wide ?
Does the 256gb card work with Sony cybershot cameras with an adapter ?
Also is there some sort of return policy if the card does not work in my camera ?
I am going overseas for 5 weeks soon and his would be perfect to use.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Shipping within Australia is $12.90 (Post Express) and we have the cards working in a Sony camera with a memory stick adapter but I can not be sure if yours will work. Our cards have a life time warranty which is a simple swap out, regarding returns... they are a memory, we have not had anyone ask to return anything....

Regards, Jonathon

I'm normally an avid bleeding edge kind of guy but I have to admit I wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole. You could write a book on the red flags being sent up here.

1. How does a one man company with nothing but a PO box for an address outdo Sandisk, Lexar and Kingston at their own game.
2. Why does an MP3 player need 256GB, I mean that's 25600 songs, seriously who has that kind of music collection.
3. There are no pictures of the device or videos of it in action.
4. No announcements, odd since this would be big news if Sandisk or Kingston did it.

Looking at Jonathan Dodge's profile he's a marketing/executive/consultant type, not an electronics engineer. Having been a chip designer I can tell you that the cost involved in design and manufacture of a leading edge chip like this is tens of millions and you'd have to do a bit better than a web site and a bit of viral marketing to sell enough to make your money back. If he's just using someone else's chips, then how did he get exclusive rights to it and no-one else did. I mean if Samsung gave him these chips and I was a systems integrator at Sandisk making SD cards I'd be on the phone pronto to Samsung giving them an earful of WTF!

As we say in Oz, this whole thing sounds a bit dodgy to me :)

We some of the things you send made sense but I do design custom components for a speakers and if you had read my profile you would see that I ran a design company called one systems where I designed very cool set- boxes, consulted on circuit board designs for Intel, AMD projects
and managed to speak at various trade shows around the world. But I agree its strange that a Sandisk hitman hasn't paid me a visit yet...

It's a mircoSD card, its not that hard... I found the best components, selected a manufacturer ( painful), did a sample run, tested 30 cards of each in 3 groups, made a few tweaks. Ordered a small number .... Gone .... order a bigger number ... Gone ... Every Forum in the world jumps on me.... Ordered a huge number, so far 50% gone... I don't see what the fuss is about the components are available, but the big guys don't release 128GB & 256GB cards because they can sell a 64GB for a $150....

I'm sure some review will pop up soon or later and if they turned out to be real, i'm sure many will be sorry for what they have said, and many people from here will flock over to buy these.

I am one for sure as I have friend who are also watching.

lets just wait and see.

Hi JDodge

can you please take a photo of either the micro sd card itself or the packaging showing either the 128gb or 256gb package

just use any type of camera - on your phone whatever

should take a couple of minutes to do....
and put a lot of minds at ease...

THANK YOU

No offense but designing components for speakers and board projects isn't quite in the same league as advanced process design for chips. Lexar achieved their 256GB SD card using die-stacking techniques. Their card also sells for $400+

http://www.amazon.com/Lexar-Professional-256GB-Memory-LSD256CTBNA600/dp/B0090BEWKY

and the fact that I can buy your card, put it in an SD adapter and get the same thing for $178 completely defies logic (the smaller one is supposed to be harder to do hence more expensive). It's a not a matter of selecting the best components, these things aren't **** Smith Funway kits, they're typically a single memory chip and possibly a controller chip inside a piece of plastic. The memory chip is where the technology is and there aren't any companies out there selling single 256GB chips and you're sure as sh*t not making your own.

Point us at one single independent review. It's really odd that there isn't even anyone who has received one and tried it out and you've been active on the web with this since the beginning of October at least.

Another point is that the only way you can get this kind of density right now is to use TLC cell stacking and that limits you to about 1000 writes before the cell dies. In your test plan you mention that you write the entire chip 1000 times with an encrypted code (not sure what there is to encrypt here but anyway ...), which means the chip is basically dead at the end of the test. Kind of like the match factory, 'this one works, this one works. this one ...' :)

Anyone following this should look up another famous Australian named Peter Brock and his 'Energy Polarizer'. It was this block of resin you stuck to your windshield and it made your car run more economically and with more power. He even had respected motoring writers of the day out testing it, trying to see if they could feel the difference. It was hilarious, and of course turned out to be nothing but a big scam.

The First commercially available 256 GB SDXC was announced on September 17, 2012 by Lexar.

http://www.lexar.com/about/newsroom/press-releases/lexar-announces-industry-s-first-256gb-sdxc-uhs-i-memory-card

According to Moore's Law, the number of transistors double every 18 months or 2 years.

Couple this with the advent of TLC (if indeed that's what's being used), meaning 3 writes per cell instead of 2 in MLC.

So that's an extra 50% increase of storage space.

Is it really that far fetched to see a 256GB MicroSDXC a year later?

I feel sorry for all the people who fell for this scam. Looking at JDodge72 posts in all the other forums, the guy can hardly spell and his grammar is not up to par for someone who claims to be educated enough to own and run a company. His fake website is also from a do it yourself website program template. I have no doubt he has accomplices posting as regular people seemingly trusting the scam, creating a groupthink, that if this guy believes him, it may be true. Those who say they believe and ordered could very well be in on the scam or have been tricked. This guy can manufacture a 256gb micro sd card but he cant post pictures or videos and claim they had packaging problems. Even his youtube video for his website was deleted. I'm surprised these people haven't been reported yet.

Not to mention the site has changed where it is being hosted from several time in the last 88 days from the USA to Canada to Australia...

Its hard to say what's taking place with the site and Mr. Dodge though because he is using some sort of proxy or anonymizer. Just be careful here and be ready to file a dispute with PayPal or your financial institution.

It's curious that none of his "main" products (mini speakers) are in stock, while his SDCARDs are all in stock....

However, Take a look at the Twitter feed:

It goes Feb 2012 and FURTHER back in time.

There is even personally identifiable photos from a trade show :

https://twitter.com/myEGO360/status/338014767237185536
Tweeter Time Stamped: 12:32 PM - 24 May 13

With in this Tweeter Feed are SDCARD promotion information (so proves this tweeter feed is indeed associated with the myego360 site)
BZI80VxCEAA9GEM.jpg:large

https://twitter.com/myEGO360/status/401450186821468160

That the website URL was registered at a later date doesn't necessarily conclusively prove that the site is fake.

It could simply be:
He switched Registrars

Also interesting to note is that there is another ego360 site: http://www.ego-360.com/egopaypal_south.htm
This one makes no mention of any SDCARDs either on the site nor on their separate Tweeter feed.
https://twitter.com/TheEgo360

Are they the same people (scammer/distributor)?
Or are they different?

Both Whois are from an AUS location.

If this is a scam, either it's well prepared, well ahead of time.... or just good distributor recently gone bad,.. which is unlikely....why ruin your brand equity?

Neither are good explanations, they just don't sound probable.......

Seriously? This is the biggest bunch of horse**** I've ever seen. How is it that major players within the memory arena haven't released their version sporting 256gb but this guy magically finds a "supplier" (namely Samsung) to manufacture chips for him? Ha! Yea right! A company like Samsung would NEVER turn loose rights to a product like this. There is a reason Samsung is one of if not the biggest technology (amongst other subsidiaries) companies, they do business on a global scale and with companies that can handle millions of units per month. Not some guy in Australia with no credible website, customer feedback, or any evidence of selling anything to anybody. I own my own business and I can say I have scams hit me almost every week. Some pretty damn convincing, and some down right ridiculous. I feel for all the guys that gave this joker their money. Its always the same thing: first comes the unbelievable product at an unbelievable price. Then its the spin move. Back orders, product packaging issues and so on. Then they vanish. POOF! just like that they take everybody's money and run. All he needs is a few thousand people at 179 a pop to have a nice chunk to lay back on some beach in Cancun or the Bahamahs. Yes, I'll have to eat every word if he delivers, but I don't see it happening. Like mom always said, if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is...

I am really sick of these constant attacks

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but when people start to personally attack me I draw the line.

I don't really care what people think.... my only regret is that I introduced myself... A few civilised members have requested cards to assess and write reviews and I thank them for their support.

These cards are real, this not a scam and their are 100's of them in circulation, we offer a lifetime warranty and try to be as open and transparent as possible.

This will be my last post.... The only other correspondence regarding EGO-360 microSD cards will be via your own member reviews.

Looks like 256 GB MicroSDXCs are finally available for purchase! And at a very reasonable price!! $179

EGO-360 256GB MicroSDXC UHS-I card with USB Adapter
    http://www.myego360.com/products/ego-360-256gb-microsdxc-uhs-i-card-with-usb-adapter

Found some info from the developer:
    Hi Guys,
My name is Jonathon Dodge, I am the lead designer for EGO-360. We developed our new range of microSD cards out of necessity, we were buying thousands of cards every month and our microSD providers were aways giving us delays, price increases and excuses. So I designed our new cards with the best component supplier Samsung. Our class range is class 10 cards are driven by SDR50 and our UHS-I by SDR104.

Now unlike some manufacturers that advertise fast speeds that are way off, we have the average speeds on our website. We test 30 cards in 3 groups, 1000 times. The three test environments ( Hot and Humid), ( Cold and Dry) & ( Office 22C within an Electromagnetic field). We write an encrypted code up to full capacity, verify & delete ( not format) 1000x per card.

Our cards work in most devices that I have tested, I have a 256GB SDXC card (exFat) in my Samsung S4 and the fastest it writes is 13.75mbytes, which is slower than some others.

We are users that have become manufacturers to support users like us....

    Kindest Regards,

    Jonathon

    EGO-360 microSD cards

Did op order? Because until somebody orders and verifies thread title needs to be changed. The description quoted just reeks of scam and all the pictures show 32gb generic micro sd's with generic USB adapters to boot.

    sent from my sm-9005.

Jonathon Dodge here, this not a scam and I took that picture quickly to get something into our product descriptions. We have had an issue with the packaging of the first shipments due to it's size and it fitting into our accessory blister packages of our other products. So with the new packaging coming through this week, my graphics team with take some pretty pictures and updated the product profiles and apologies for any inconvenience.

Our first two shipments were sold before they even hit our door to people close this project and our third shipment will be shipped by air on Thursday to our international buyers after coming through customs here in Australia.

We test 1% of every shipment for quality assurance and everything comes to me in Australia before the cards are shipped out across the world.

I have attached my Korean team's average sample h2testw jpg for you to review and if anyone would like to ask me a question, Im happy to help.

    Kindest Regards,

    Jonathon Dodge

Thats a fair comment, however we primarily developed these microSD card for ourselves and thought we would put them them out there is see what would happen. We never expected to sell any... Buy or Don't that's an individual choice, we bundle them with our other products.

    Kindest Regards,

    Jonathon

You should have it reviewd by a reliable online news agency like Engadget to get some trust in
