What's up everyone,
I've searched numerous forums and varies websites in hopes to find one answer. However I keep coming to the same "conclusion" which is "confusion" I keep ending with the same conflicting answers "Yes, it can be rooted" & "No, it can't be rooted" The solution of the one click no downgrade necessary, to the "You need to downgrade first.
So I'm desperately asking for guidance.
Can my Samsung Galaxy Stellar (SCH-I200) w/ Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean be rooted?
If yes please direct me to what I need to do. I'm not a complete noob as I've rooted 3+ phones however I do rely heavily on the guides that may be provided.

You're asking in the wrong thread/forum... but have you tried searching the legacy forums? If it's not there try going to rootzwiki just did a goodle search and most of it are redirecting to that site (you need to register though to see the site's content). If you can't find it here and on rootzwiki then I guess it's gonna be hard looking for a guide to root it properly.
Thanks I guess I'll give that a shot now. Oh and the reason I ended up in this thread is because I was directed here from another source saying this would work. Thanks again.
Edit - Is the Legacy and Stellar similar? Same phone, kinda like the Original Droid and Milestone?

Can someone give me the MD5 sum for Odin_v3.09_and_older.zip ? I'm behind a NAT (Satellite internet, yuck) and I had to download from 4shared after googling the filename as the original link and mirror were "maxed out" due to too many requests coming from the same IP (HughesNet).

I`m sure that 1.85, or 3.07, or 3.09 will work fine on your devie.
For my i8730 (4.1.2) the both are working very well.
But is bettrr do not hury ap. Read and after ask the people in the thread regarding your device!

Could you update the compatibility tables ? Example: Note 8 models (N5100, N5110 and N5120) do not appear in any table.
It would be very useful as a general guide for people reading this post even if more complete information could be find at specific model forums.

Odin is the ROM Flashing Tool for SAMSUNG smartphones.

ROM files flashable with Odin come with .tar extension. Most of the ROMs you are going to flash with Odin are the official stock Samsung ROMs (or leaked stock ROMs). Custom ROMs are rerely flashable by Odin because they come with .zip extension that Odin does not recognize (it recognizes .tar files).
Custom kernels, however, are sometimes provided in .tar format by their developers (e.g. CF-Root kernels), so that they can be flashed by Odin. When your phone is new and running official firmware you most often cannot flash a custom ROM to it because a Samsung phone often requires a custom recovery and root rights that are included in a custom kernel to be able to flash custom ROMs. That's why Odin often comes in handy in rooting and flashing a custom firmware to your phone because you (often) can flash a custom kernel with it that already includes root and custom recovery and enables you to flash custom firmware (custom ROMs). I use the word "often" very frequently in the previous sentence because every Samsung smartphone is different and requires various procedures for rooting it and flashing custom ROMs (see the section about using Odin below).
If it comes to stock ROMs, the best source of stock (official) Samsung ROM files is located at this excellent website: SamMobile.com/firmwares (link). It requires registration (it's free) and I encourage you to set up an account there because you will most likely use this site several times during your stay at XDA. You will most likely come across 1 .tar or 3 .tar file ROMs there, flashable by Odin. Refer to the Odin flashing guide below for more info.
Below in this thread you can download Odin v3.09, v3.07, v3.06, v3.04, v1.85, v1.83 and all important versions of Odin Multi Downloader.
However, bear in mind that not every Samsung smartphone can be flashed using any Odin version. In fact, for every Samsung smartphone there's a specific Odin version compatible with it. Please refer to the tables below to learn which Odin version is compatible with your phone!
To use Odin with ANY Samsung phone you first need to properly install latest Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile Phones. You can download the drivers in this thread (link). They work for all Samsung smartphones. In that thread there is a full guide on installing the drivers on Win 8/7/Vista/XP x86 & x64.
HOW TO USE ODIN:
There are various ROM .tar files for various Samsung smartphones that require various (again) methods of flashing with Odin. Please ALWAYS refer to the sticky guide threads in your phone's designated XDA subforum and the first post in the topic of the ROM you are going to flash on how to EXACTLY flash the ROM's .tar files with Odin to your phone. If after reading those threads you are still in doubt, feel free to ask questions in your phone's designated Q&A subforum (Questions & Answers). Doing that will save you from damaging your phone!
Here (link) is a very good GENERAL guide made by Intratech on how to use Odin with various .tar and .pit files.
You will learn there what are CODE/PDA, PHONE/MODEM and CSC .tar files, what are .pit files and what all Odin switches mean and when to use them.

Are there any benefits to using V3.x ?
I just kept using 1.85 as it does everything I need and the newer Odin versions just didn't seem professional to me.
There's very little info about the different versions and no change logs or anything I could find, if you could give me some info that would be great
