Can anyone tell me how to install an APK when its in zip format?
Depends what happens when you unzip it.
If the folder has only an *.apk, then you can put it on your sd card and use filemanager to install.
If it has system and meta_inf folders, put them in your sdcard/ics/root folder and reboot.

Hi LinChina, see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31837665&postcount=568
The only way i have found to install it is to unzip native sd beta3 and replace system_ui.apk and framework_res.apk then re-zip the files (not the folder) and re-install via recoverySD.
I tried using root browser lite but couldn't replace/rename system apk without messing up the rom:eek: Didn't try adb.
Works good

Correct works fine....thanks,

EDIT: ........No Power Widget Buttons in Notification drawer ?? :silly:

Cheers.....LinChina

all good or nearly

This seems to be very stable, but I still have an on-going issue since Beta 1.

Occasionally, when I click on Facebook messenger, the phone reboots. It’s still there. Anybody seen this issue, or is it just me.

Also, would really love to remove the second camera icon, and that one doesn’t work. Anybody know how? I know it’s only aesthetics.
Other than that, it’s brilliant!

I searched real hard but wasn't able to find them, maybe using the wrong search terms.

Where are the navigation button options and the power widget when you pull down the status bar? Is there a way to enable them?

Anybody on this thread at all? Does anyone know how to get the soft navigation buttons and the power widget in the status bar? (for the navigation buttons, will the same build.prop trick work in a native SD rom?)

####NB. I have since identified the problem as my brand new SD card, which was faulty####

Thoroughly confused. I hope someone can help.

Have copied across 4EXT recovery, and beta4 zip file from post 1. I have 7Gb each Fat32 and 4EXT primary partitions on a new class 10 SD card, created in MiniTool Partition Wizard. From Windows mobile I can boot using clrcad and haret into 4EXT, and on the face of it, that installs the ROM. It does quickly flash up that it cannot find misc, and a couple of other lines that go so fast I cannot read them. Strangely, whilst it flashed on screen different files that it is copying, it always remains at 0%. The progress bar gets about a quarter of the way across and then it says finished. When I reboot into windows mobile, there is a NativeSD folder, but it is empty. So I cannot boot into Android.

As I first boot into 4EXT Recovery , I get message
Code:
E:failed to find "cache" partition to mount at "/cache"
I also get a warning that sd-ext is not formatted, despite MiniTool having taken 5 minutes to do that very thing. So I re-did it in 4EXT.

Immediately I get same message about cache.

There is nothing in my NativeSD folder. Neither windows 7 nor my HD2 will allow me to copy anything into the folder.
Now when I reboot into 4EXT, it again tells me that my sd-ext is not formatted.

Hi hx4700 user,
Can you check md5sum of your beta 4 download, should be 5f9109d82cffa730d8df0094f78ba8e3
Don't worry about cache message, happens all the time.
You did right to reformat using 4ext after minitool, did you try to re-install after this?

Hi Robbie P. Thanks for your help.
Yes, the checksum checks.
Yes, I did try to reinstall after that.

I've just reformatted the sd card, and re-partitioned it, and will later try to reinstall JB, and report back.

This build is ported from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773115 using Portadroid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094372 (thanks boonbing), with modified initrd.gz from smokin901 (huge thanks) and loads of help and advice from wis1152 (huge thanks too)
Credits and thanks to smokin901, tytung, boonbing, texasice, evervolv team, securecrt, Bexton, wis1152, Xylograph, Rick_1995, ankuch, Zergra, Cotulla, DFT and all others, sorry if I have missed any

The LNE team are not developers, but hope to be able to provide ongoing support for this thread.

    Instructions:
Well you know just extract everything and put the build folder (the one with all the files in, for example ics, jelly) in the root of your sd card. If WM6.5 tap on clrcad (nothing appears to happen) then haret, if magldr navigate to build folder using ad-sd dir and select build folder name then boot AD SD.
For help with NativeSD, visit the Wiki: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD2/NativeSD
Please remember to REBOOT X 3.
Magldr users can get different sized blank data.ext4 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24930501&postcount=1353 edit; may get boot loops, please test. Magldr default=512Mb if you leave empty. edit2 here is blank 256mb one http://www.mediafire.com/?ey40c1wti77ni2w
Latest Kernels can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29248688&postcount=4 but default runs well. Remember to back up before changing kernels (system.ext4 and data.ext4 just in case)

    BETA 2 AOSP
Note that first boot will take about 10 mins (depending on size of data.ext4 created) and will end with the phone rebooting. Second boot will take less time and will show the boot animation (as opposed to portadroid screen in first boot). You are porting this build, it is so that some apps are put in data.ext4 file. You can safely delete root_tmp folder after second boot to save space. Remember to reboot x3. See parent thread for changelog. Use a 3rd part app for camera (eg camera illusion)

    Version 3 alpha
smokin901 has been busy in the early hours and has fixed sd mounting problems for us sd users-THANK YOU again smokin901. Also working USB Mass storage Mode, Browser, Installing Apps on SD card, Superuser (included app and binary already in the rom)- can install superSU if problems. Build folder is called ics again. A fix for the camera can be found here http://www.mediafire.com/?3bh08l3xttte5am (put meta-inf and system in sdcard/ics/root folder and reboot). Though camera works display is grainy but pictures are clear-Credit to Zergra (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29124206&postcount=239 and press the thanks button there ;))-"Video Recording is buggy"

    Version 2 pre-alpha (haret)
After hours and hours (since 4AM this morning) wis1152 has managed to port a version for haret (&magldr BTW) users with working data and root. Huge respect and thanks.
Please do a fresh install as root seems to still be broken if using an existing data.ext4, set your size in startup.txt. Note that folder is called ics in this build, rename if neccessary (and edit startup.txt accordingly).

    Version 2 pre-alpha
We have root, google now and data working (data for magldr users only ATM, haret users can try changing kernel, but may lose root). Note that install folder is called jelly. For browser, try chrome or other browser from this list http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28841137&postcount=70

    Version 1 pre-alpha
Remember this is a work-in-progress, things may not work. For example root privileges, Camera, Browser works but display is messed up, Error when Installing some Apps, Google Now crashes.

    Pre-alpha versions 1&2 and alpha 3,4&5 softkeys
    See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29034218&postcount=166
Put system and meta-inf into /sdcard/ics-or-jellyb/root folder and reboot
As far as I can see it adds 2 lines to /system/build.prop

    Code:
    qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
    qemu.sf.lcd_ density=110
Not sure why lcd density is put to 110, it has no effect on actual lcd density.
Anyway, delete these lines to remove softkeys and before rebooting, make sure your root folder is empty, else it will re-install (yes, it happened to me;))
You may find the some screens slightly messed up with softkeys added.
No soft power key yet. Try Quick Boot from market and add power off widget to homescreen, thanks liuhung.

    Pre-alpha version 1 only
Softkeys can be got from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28874557&postcount=92
Put system and meta-inf into /sdcard/jellyb/root folder and reboot
To remove, use the attached instead (it has original .apk)
For magldr users, a way to change ro_lcd_density in /system/build.prop without root permissions was found by vikingzou here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28292160&postcount=614 genius.

The attached below is for pre-alpha 1 release only
