Preface:
  • This is a custom 3.0.8 kernel developed for Android Jellybean 4.x and build for multiple Sony 2011 devices
  • It is based on CAF kernel and is kept as clean as possible while maintaining working hardware
  • Other Android versions are also bootable, but are not widely tested

Features:
  • Pure CAF 3.0.8 kernel
  • Full hardware support ;)

Defaults:
  • IO scheduler: ROW

Requirements:
  • Unlocked bootloader
  • Fastboot

Install:
  • Backup
  • Download the kernel file for your device from the list that follows and flash it:
    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot flash boot <image file>
    fastboot reboot
  • Now you should be seeing the coolest kernel boot animation

Downloads:

3.0.8
urushi
iyokan

Uninstall:
  • Flash back to stock using SUS or flash another kernel

Notes:
TODO

Sources:
  • The linux kernel is GPL'ed, everyone who does modifications should make them publicly available.
  • I accept patches any way possible. Basically I only read pms if they contain some suggestion or patch ;) Credits go to the author obviously

Ok guys, after using the kernel for the past four days as a daily driver on the iyokan, here is my review:

1.Performance is excellent. I never thought my device would be smooth on JB.
2.Battery life is decent. It could be better but I'm already going good without needing to charge every night.
3.Connectivity is fast. My phone now discovers wireless networks in 2.08 seconds and connects to a network after inputting the password in 2.48 seconds. This is leagues away from what it used to be before.

Well this list wouldn't be interesting if I didn't tell you guys the cons ;)

1.The phone re-boots for absolutely no reason. This happens mostly when using Wi-Fi or during a call or even when it is in deep sleep at night!
2.It gets really hot now. The heat was hardly noticeable on the 2.6 kernel with the current ROM I'm using, but now while charging or when kept under a blanket for 5 minutes(happens with a kid around the house  ) it tends to overheat and switch off.
3.There is a 6 second blank screen before the kernel boot animation. This makes me sometimes think that the phone has stopped working :cyclops:, speaking of which the boot animation jumps horizontally on the screen, which is either a glitch or it was meant that way.

P.S: I arrived late to the office twice, since my alarm didn't ring as my phone was switched off :(

So nAa if you somehow fix the overheating or random re-booting issue. This will absolutely be the best kernel in my opinion :good:

Great job mate! :highfive:

I've an issue in this kernel on my Ray.
The notification led is very dark and the orange color if phone is charging isn't any more orange. It is light green.
The same issue I get with Fusion kernel 5.4 and 5.5.

Is there any fix?

I just installed the 3.0.8-nAa-03_MK16 kernel on my Xperia Pro / iyokan with FXP 217 and it seems to work, but the boot logo flickers all the time like the display is not driven properly until the CM logo shows up.

There is a serious over heat problem if you enable 3G data and charge the mobile at the same time.
I had to remove the back cover and put it on a cold place for a while !
122 MHz min and 1 GHz max with smartassH3 governor.

It also seems to get a little bit warmer in normal usage than on 2.6.x kernels.

Other than that, everything is okay :)

Are you sure this started with 3.0.8 kernel?

I remember that my Pro got always hot if I enabled Wifi or 3G - even with stock firmware...

But regarding smartass - it does not go down to 122MHz for me - I tried both smartasses - the both go to around 480MHz at min.

Mine stays at 806 MHz min for me and most of the time, it stays the max set of 1018MHz. I think this is the reason why battery is draining quickly.
I'm on SmartassH3, sio.

With UHD and lupus kernel it got reasonably hot.
But on fxp217 and 3.0.8 kernel it got extremely hot. I was really worried that I instantly removed the back cover, battery, memory and sim cards to cool down. Even the sim card was hot !!
