Just flashed this ROM. Everything worked fine but I was wondering...while flashing the Overcome-Rom in CwM i got some blurry lines and distortion while it said: Installing Kernel. Does that mean anything?
Also I am using German language but parts of the dialer and the messaging app remains in english.
Is it supposed to be like that?
That's normal
Yeah can't do alot about it. 1.6.x was based on an asian rom so euro language support is pretty bad. The OS itself has been adapted for many languages but some apps just won't take it.
M.
If you want a pure Euro-version, then I suggest using Overcome ROM 1.4.7: http://www.multiupload.com/7A2EH7R5RD
The steps are the same. Just follow the guide and you should be fine.
Do note that 1.4.7 is based on Froyo 2.2.0, while 1.6.7 is based on Froyo 2.2.1
Thanks for your help but the link is disabled. I would like to have a pure Stock Rom though. Just in case I have to send it into repairs someday.
My tab arrived 2 days ago with Froyo.XXJMG I couldn't find it on the forum.
If you want a pure stock ROM on it then why are you here? Roto-backup will aid you in making a proper backup of everything. But don't flash the backed-up bootloaders back if you do ever restore
I do not want it for now. pitbull was so kind to give me a link for a euro rom. right now i have 1.6.4 on my tab but did not manage to backup my stock rom the day it arrived ... i went straight on flashing a custom.
Hi Overcome'ers! Wondering that I am the only one who uses launcher pro. Am I?
Always after a boot I have to force close L.P. manually - because it seems to be frozen. After that 'kill' everything is working good. Everyone else having same experiences? Possible solution?
Just figured out the problem and solved it but i still think it is a bug.
Freezing or deleting the stock email app will break the camera after next reboot. Took me a while to figure it out. I use K9 mail so always freeze the stock mail. Never had a problem on any rom.
Try it yourself, freeze email, reboot and see what happens..defrost and reboot will bring it back.

There are shared libs between the two, Samsung have done some crazy-ass work in there.
That is really some crazy ass stuff. It took me like 2 hours to narrow it down. Had everything set up and froze the usual apps like i am used to on my x10. Another lesson learned...the hard way

I'll put a target on the back of my head and say this: just this once, screw the noobs. If they don't read they break their device, simple.
Seconded....
I can appreciate it gives AB more time to work on coding although IMO most of the annoying noobs are being dealt with by the thread/dev groupies. now again I come back to the place that; yet again the vocal minority is ruining it for the rest of us. I love being able to just jump on XDA app and download (if just an update) it and flash it on the go.. its part of the excitement for me and honestly the most rewarding experience has been messing up and learning why, fixing it and starting over... lol. Having said that I have been doing full restocks last 2 updatea so have been tied to the laptop to complete them lately.. I guess its just the principal of it all... I thought this was a development area not a training section...
One final thought, what kind of a world would it be if we always catered to and, yes, mollycoddled the lowest common denominator? Holding their hands and helping them get into things they prolly shouldn't touch.. to them I say; find a geeky friend and let them do it for ya, chances are you'll make their day.
I think xda-developers runs the risk of being too noob friendly... afterall its called (android) galaxy tab Development, not (android) galaxy tab pre school, for a reason....
Just my 2 cents. Fyi, i Cheated and did update from link posted by someone, somewhere else. No issues at this stage but it seems to be rare these days to have any of the (known) issues effect me in any great way...
Kind regards,
Nobleskill
i think the updaters should be on the first page, while the full installs should be in the guide. That way, people who already know overcome have easy access to updates, and those that are just now learning to flash get to read the latest install guide before getting to the actual files. If you are planning to do a full wipe to move from one base to another (say 1.4.x to 1.6.x) , it wouldn't hurt to download and go over the guide again before you get access to the link. How often do you move from one base to another anyway right?
I see where alter is coming from in this respect, and i applaud him and pitbull for idiot-proofing the procedure as much as they could. If you end up with a soft brick, hit yourself in the head with it a few times, (re)read the guide , and then do it properly. If reading the guide itself makes your nose bleed, have someone else flash your tab for you.
just my 2 centavos.![]()
Good progress on the Tom thus far, it works very well. However, why is the low battery graphic one of the Nexus One? It looks horrific when used in place of the stock.
I did what you have said but still messaging FC's :-S
