Took me 2 weeks to get it but I only paid $3 and it has the 2.5D curve.

How do you know? I've purchased a few cheap tempered glass ones for the Note 2, Note 3, S4 and S5. They all fit perfectly.

Is it because of the curve on the actual phone screen?

Yup, refer to the tempered glass thread, no luck so far with any of them

previous notes had completely flat screens, I wish they kept it that way

not sure, no one has posted photos

Someone just posted a photo of their Spigen glass and that one looks alright(not perfect) that one is smaller that the other glass protectors to avoid the issue but it's still not perfect.

I think the last Samsung phone with a curved screen was the S3 and I don't think any manufacturer ever offered either a tempered glass or a film protector that covered the entire screen because they could not get a proper fit.
