If i connect my phone by OTG cable to my Nexus 7 is it possible to tether like I would with a computer?

I have a Nexus1 if that makes any difference.
Why don't you use wifi tethering?

I have tested a Vodafone K3772-Z and it seems to work with PPP Widget. I say SEEMS, as it detects it, is able to dial and allegedly connect, but conenction drops. COULD be a dodgy OTG (it only cost me £1-50)

I don't use wifi tethering because I can't setup security on my Nexus 1. I have a feeling it's cause I am using a 4.2 rom

Just was hoping for something more secure ha!

Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Any D-Link usb modem working with N7?

Hi, are there any D-Link usb modems working with the N7?
Also any power issues? Does it need a power source other than the tablet?
I saw a Bluerigger active extension 10m. usb cable on amazon.in Do you think it will carry the signal?
Thanks,
Babak

Hello, I have a T mobile Huawei E1750 dongle and a Nexus 7 2013 wifi only tablet. I have rooted the Nexus and installed PPP Widget 2. I don't understand how this will work because when used on a laptop the dongle is controlled/connected etc using T Mobile Internet manager software which I can not find for android.
Any ideas / info much appreciated cheers Neil
