I'm kinda desperated and no one answer my question, I've read on gsmarena.com that motorola defy only has HSDPA 900 /1200 (used by 3G antennas) I recently got a 3G data plan here in El Salvador(central America) but I cannot connect to it, I only get EDGE, someone told me that is because this company uses 850 instead of 900 /1200.......the flashes that you uploaded should work for me in order to change to 850? is there any risk? thanks!!! once again sorry :( I'm on Android 2.1
The same for you, use the 850/2100 3G fix for brasil for example.

Cheers,
K

Any hope for me?

Hi All,

I live in Brazil as well, and, like Rodragon, my carrier here broadcasts its 3G services in the 850MHz band. My particular case is that I won a britsh Defy, whose FCC ID is IHDP56LC4, and, of course, I'm able to pick, at most, EDGE. Any chances for me to, some day, see [email protected] working on my Defy?

Thanks, anyway.

Regards,
Carlos

If the hardware doesn't match the frequencies you need, sorry, it won't work.

If you'd like to try anyway, you could choose one of the 3G fixes that includes 850 and go wild. You probably won't see any change though. (But please report back here if you do!) You may even see worse EDGE performance unless you flash the correct 3G fix files for your hardware.

iirc, ItfunzBaseBandSwitcher.apk does the same as dialing *#*#INFO#*#* on your phone, and changing the baseband prefs from there. (menu which is standard on Android afaik, not Defy related)

but it won't change the baseband files in the /system of the phone...
Ummm... I don't have a 3G SIM to test it... Can I use logcat to check it out? Maybe I can pull an USB cable to test it later...

Yup, unfortunetely you are right. I've flashed the spanish version, since it has been taken from an Eclair ROM, and I'm running this version, but nothing has changed. EDGE is still there...:(

Thanks, anyway.

I can see the 3G status icon on the upper part and the speed is better compared to the one I was using, THANKS A LOT FOR SHARING THIS!!! THANK YOU!!! By the way I flashed it over Eclair, and works fine!!

Thanks, but I can't read the characters on the buttons. Could you translate them please or is the list in your post already like the order of the buttons in the application?
In order...

Chinese mainland
USA
UK
Central Europe
Hong Kong
New UK
New USA

BTW, I just tried it and checked out /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default, it did replace few files, namely File_GSM, File_Audio2, File_Audio8 and File_Seem_Flex_Tables.

Ive been having problems with the quality of the calls after I flashed argentina rom, do you think it has something to do with the fact that I flashed it over eclair and the files are froyo? Any idea? I hear a lot of noise and somethings the call gets interrupted by some noises, thanks :(

i think this thread should be named baseband fixes or radio fixes not only 3g fixes. i had to change my baseband files because 2g was not working and 3g was fine!

just a thought.

How great it would be to have specs of the basebands available in the defybasebandswitcher 3.1! I'd rather find out more before testing them all. I need the 900/1700/2100 version for being able to use EU2100 and Tmobile USA. Which one is it? Any more details on the topic?

There is no 900/1700/2100 version. The T-Mo US phone has 850/1700/2100. And you will *only* get the bands that your hardware actually supports.

If you've read the whole thread, you would have found most of the info have been mentioned already.

Most.

Came from stock leaked US Froyo and went to Pays-ROM Defy v5.0 Froyo and flashed his UK SBF. Lost 3G and APN settings, Flashed the US zip from the first page and got 3G back, still can't sent MMS even though I restored APN's from a back up.

my battery drains very fast since i am with 3.4.3-11 2.2.1 rom.
i came from 2.51 2.1 rom in romania.

what do i need to set in this app to return to what i used to have in 2.51 rom in romania.
i used to get 2 days of battery life without undervolting and rooting and now even with this i only get one day.

this app is in chineese and i don't know what to set!

i've translated the chinese into english according to the order they appear in the list a few posts back then, or you may try using the update.zip in the OP.

besides, sometimes it's not the radio causing a higher than normal battery consumption. if you're unsure, download Spare Parts and see what's hogging your battery
