Ohh okay I just got the lumia 800 and I do get HSPA speeds on AT&T. But it is from the 1900 band and on the box it mentions 900/1900/2100 bands only.
My understanding is that there is no lumia 800 with 850 bands, so was eager to know if it really exists.

This makes sence. I have noticed that I get a little 'E' more often than I used to (almost never) but I still get 'H' alot of the time too, so one could assume that I'm getting 'E' in the places where I used to connect to a 850 tower but I am still getting HSPA speeds via the 1900 towers around me.

Unbranded Nokia 800 direct from Nokia on at&t near Milwaukee, WI.

Yeah I also get little more E than normal. But luckily the 1900 coverage is almost similar to 850 one, so we shd get H most of the time.

Just got my new imported Lumia 800 here in Mexico.
It does NOT have the 850 WCDMA band, and it HAS the infamous 980mAh battery problem.
Very disappointed, as all nokia sites are advertising the phone as 3g quad band.
Essentially, it's almost a brick here for me.

Same for me, i bought a Lumia 800 in Paraguay, unlocked branded t-mobile DE (from Germany) and here in Argentina (850mhz 3g band) it only shows "E" (edge) and 3g does not work, ("H" never seen).

Is there any way to do a firmware update o flashing to make it work? Somebody tryed?
And forgot to mention, I updated the firmware using Zune, the battery was improved, but still needs more capacity. (very far from the 265hs advertised in gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_800-4240.php , have ~30hrs in stand by with wifi off) And camera nows have the pink center bug and bad quality indoor shots problem.

That's because you use the European model which doens't have the 850MHz band. Normal, when you import from Germany, EU...
