4.1.1 JellyBean Offical VS. TEAM EOS

There is no comparison. Team EOS' JB nightlies are faster and more stable than stock Jelly Bean. I don't know what Moto did with the code, but something in their framework slows down their build considerably. Before they started posting nightlies, Team EOS posted a pure AOSP preview build here as soon as JB code dropped. The build didn't include any of their tweaks or mods and it flew compared to Moto's OTA. It is disappointing because Moto left ICS alone for the most part and it was very comparable to AOSP as far as snappiness. This is the major difference between "Google experience device" and "Nexus device." OEMs provide a vanilla experience, but still manipulate the code, usually with poor results. Take it from someone that had two vanilla devices, the HTC G2 and LG G2x - it's never a good thing when the manufacturer starts tweaking the code.

You must have no idea what you're talking about. Motorola doesn't even TOUCH the builds for the wingray or stingray! Google builds it solely for the xoom. "Moto's OTA"? Hmmmm, funny that it's Moto's OTA when it is pushed directly from Google's servers...

I have tried both but stick with Stock because it doesnt reboot on its own and I prefer the stability (for the most part) of the Stock build.

EOS will surpass stock...and when it does ill use it.

I have fixed that for 90% of our users, and I have a fix that will fix it for everyone that's in our release pipeline and will be out soon.

Look, while of course I'd hope that most folks would use our stuff, I can't hate on ya if for whatever reason you stay stock- but consider that if you've got issues, please let us know and I'm sure they can be fixed.

"Bleeding edge" means that sometimes you bleed :), but my Xoom LTE is very much a daily-driver, and I need 99.9+% uptime (barring testing new code, that is :)) as much as y'all do.

IMO, stock is much better. Faster ...
?! Really now?! How can that be, when we've increased the speed of not only the CPU, but the GPU*, too?!

* - unfortunately, I will have to turn down the GPU speed (as it causes spontaneous reboots for some) but I'm working out a way for those whose Xooms can handle it to run it at the faster speed as a boot-time option

Keep up the good work kc.

Been rocking EOS since I found you guys. I think it was hc nightly 21 or so.

There's been rough patches but that's maybe only 3 or 4 builds I had issues with in total from over 100 nightlies. Ill stick with EOS for as long as you guys are around. Ill probably follow you to the next awesome 10 inch as well.

I went and tried stock JB last night just to see if there was a difference. I soon jumped back to Team Eos to me there version of JB runs a lot smoother and faster :)

Sent from my UK Xoom using team eos jelly bean :)

I have not been on stock roms on my HTC Magic 32a Rogers Phone nor my Xoom in a year - both Canadian devices and the Magic not supported anylonger by HTC or Rogers and the Xoom slowly supported by Google and Motorola Canada. By unlocking and rooting I have and do install Team Eos and I confess Team Rouge Roms. Without them - I would not be able to update the Xoom nearly as frequently.

On occassion they are working on something that may have unintended affects or not quite fully implemented. Most of the time it is bleeding edge and quite responsive. I can overclock stably to 1.5ghz. All the hardware works. The rom is great for me.

I would not use stock roms again.

I bought a xoom a couple of weeks ago, it had the official 4.1.1 on it. I was really irritated that when i would read a magazine with adobe reader, the images would take forever to load. I rooted and installed EOS 2 days ago and not only did i not have the issue with adobe, everything else just runs better and smoother in my opinion. EOS hands down for me.

Love eos

I have a xoom wifi, and straight out of the box I rooted it and put the newest nightly build of jellybean on it from team eos, and I was just blown away, I have not had 1 problem, if your considering it.... stop considering it and just do it, be sure to make a backup but you wont be disappointed.

I'm currently on Cyanogenmod 9 (stable). Can any of you give a comparison to that with EOS JB?
Thanks

Update: Went ahead a flashed. Not disappointed one bit!

I always used to run EOS and jelly bean is a great update, makes it feel like a new tablet. I have just switched to the CM10 experimental builds and I'm loving it too, had no hard reboots like I used to now and then.

I do miss the charging light option from EOS settings tho!

The charging light option is back for the xoom. Settings - EOS Settings - System - Device Settings.

Just purchased a Xoom (coming w/ HC 3.2) and am figuring what I'll try first.

Was curious as to why the EOS ROM is based on an ICS Kernel and not built off the JB Kernel.

Was it just the timing of when development started? Is there a plan to switch the code base at some point?
