So SamMobile just posted a new article about a new red Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 launch in US soon.

The news article explains that its launching with 4.2.2.

http://www.sammobile.com/2014/01/16...axy-tab-3-7-0-in-the-us/#.UtgtN7CxW-Q.twitter

The last picture shows the model number SM-T210R.

As with every other color refresh, the specs remain the same. You get a 7-inch 1024×600 display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 3-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera, 8GB of internal memory and a microSD slot, Wi-Fi, HSPA, GPS, and Bluetooth connectivity, a 4,000mAh battery, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, upgradeable to Android 4.2.2.

The article says it's upgradable. Still depends if Samsung will release 4.2.2. If they do it'll still be Touchwiz so I'll be sticking with RocketTab and holding my breath for CM.

If its upgradable that must mean they will have the update out for the Lite release. Might have been a slip on Samsungs part, but I'm sure they confirmed further firmware updates for Galaxy Tab 3.0.

Apparently it launches with Android 4.2 It's the same hardware as the normal 7-inch Tab 3. (One with Marvell CPU)

(Thanks PhlyingMonkey)

Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T210, SM-T210R, and SM-T211 and the new Galaxy Tab 3 Lite are all the same internal hardware, the only difference is the R model has infared, and the 211 has 3G. Other than that, same CPU and SoC. I really expect Samsung to update every single model to 4.2 (and hopefully 4.4 in future).

Yeah I take back my previous comment. When it comes out I'll do a performance comparison across all the different kernels and roms.

I'm especially curious to see how it stands up against the stock 4.1 ROM and kernel.

There seems to be a 4.2.2 for a really similar device already.

Either you wait for a flashable port, or try to flash the ROM as it is. I ll give it a go in a few minutes ;)

Shouldn't need to port anything really.

The SM-T110 (Galaxy Tab 3 Lite) is identical to the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 in terms of hardware, only difference is the lesser camera and smaller battery. Other than that, same CPU, same screen same GPU same RAM.

Actually no , it has a different bootloader and the newer boot loader might factor in why it has different partitions. Like most devices our boot loader is not compatible so I won't waste time. I already posted about the garnet red one some time back and it's easier to use theirs or according to Samsung we will get 4.2.2 of our own and too a new bootloader might be in the update.

The Garnet Red one isn't a different model number so I got a feeling when it launches (I don't believe it has yet), Samsung will release the official 4.2.2 for all SM-T210/T210R models.

I've too mentioned this I asked Samsung too. I can't wait :) I just knew when they released one with same model just color they had to push updates for everyone.

With recent reports saying the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is the number 1 selling Samsung device, I really hope we see a lot more people coming in to develop for the device, and hopefully further official updates from Samsung including Kitkat 4.4 and an official Cyanogenmod release.

I doubt kitkat if they only moved us to 4.2.2 I don't think they are attempting kitkat. When we receive 4.2.2 I will port 4.3 then get it stable then port 4.4. Issue with 4.1.2 was compatibility with egl stuff and no one knows how mrvl works. So hopefully with 4.2.2 we have a chance since it will be more compatible

We were on this list of devices getting 4.4 a while ago. Of course I can't find the link now but it was pretty recent. If I find it I'll post it. I just want 4.2 and some form of apps to SD.

We are in the list for updating to kitkat?

Ow, I can not wait.

But, I like to use and choose Cyanogenmod for t211 with kitkat 4.4 in it.
