Just a friendly clarification - that's incorrect. The purpose of a patent is to protect the intellectual property of an inventor once a product is in the market. i.e. if someone wants to use patented tech, they typically have to pay license fees or royalties to the original inventor. A patent normally lasts 20 years.
Actually a patent is meant to protect a physical way of doing something and a copyright is meant to protect written works.
So what the poster said was essentially true, they are trying to patent the way you move your hands not thier product that is really just a written work that makes that hand movement do something.
The slide to unlock patent is an attempt to patent your hand movement (slide Left to Right) and is not REALLY a product they have created.
The product is nothing more than a program or code and should not be patented merely copyrighted,
Face unlock
JB stock wallpapers
New X (Nexus) boot animation
Sound Search widget (Google ears)
Single finger expandable notifications with 4.1.2
These are the top omissions that come to mind on the Xoom, there may be others.

If I remember correctly the issue with Facelock on the Xoom was about the piggish memory and storage requirements of the faceprints which is why even the custom Rom devs removed it.
Truth is it was not all that good of a feature to begin with and was easily bypassed.
As for the Wallpapers and Boot anim, are those really features?
