My woes with this - and the solution
Prior to this I was using MJ5 bootloader, MJ9 modem (showed up as N7100DDEMJ9), kernel 3.0.31-2099172, Dr. Ketan's ROM V6.1, with no Wi-Fi patch, but I had random reboots.
I downloaded the "Package with mj5 bootloader and mj9 modem [BTU] UK" in post #1
I booted from the ROM straight into the "Download" mode which reboots into the downloader mode. Doing it this way I could not flash via Odin. I pulled the battery and rebooted into the downloader mode (Vol-Down, HOME, Power). I then managed to flash the package via Odin.
I followed the SuperSU, Xposed Installer, Wanam Xposed in post #2 instructions.
On a reboot I found that I had no Wi-Fi. My modem now showed up as N7100XXUEMJ9 and the kernel was 3.0.31-2138564.
After a lot of re-reading this thread I thought there was no harm in trying the following...
- Installed TWRP 2.6.3.1 via Odin
- Re-ran Dr. Ketan's V6.1 ROM and chose ONLY to re-install the standard 4.3 Kernel
After this the kernel was back to 3.0.31-2099172 but more importantly I had Wi-Fi again.
I then went and uninstalled Wanam Xposed and undid the changes in SuperSU from post #2 and rebooted. On the restart the kernel still said "permissive".
I thought I would post this in case it helps someone else.
