How to know if I am playing 4k hdr. In youtube its [email protected] with lot of frame skips. I did play some downloaded 4k hdr videos using the default player and it doesn't take control of the brightness like youtube does while playing hdr, also it does not show any notification or message that the video is hdr.

But how do you know its playing on hdr.It simply plays 4k.I don't see the brightness change that happens in youtube
When you are playing HDR video, drag the notification bar down and you can see that the grey color is lighter than usual.:)

But 4K 60 fps is not playing smoothly as it used to in Nougat. Hope Sony fixes it in Pie!

Bro you just solved the problem I have been looking for like forever.I wish sony included a hdr notification or a tag along with the video.Yeah I hope they fix this issues in pie, fingers crossed. And thanks a lot BTW.But one question still. It Confuses me why it does not change the brightness while playing hdr like youtube does(YouTube hdr is just horrible)

If u try to play a hdr 4k video with MX Player Pro (idk if in the normal version hdr works) it will work well and smooth
Yeah I have mx player pro and it supports some audio codec which is not supported by the default player. All the 4k hevc 60fps demos are working fine with both mx and default player.Only youtube sucks
