Used This and Loved It. Its so much more stable and reliant I feel. Tip: In the Profiles: you can select Application > then click on the "All" button > there will be A "profileactivity" or some sort of profile thing as an app > Click that and enable Wolf Task with it.
This way you directly jump into wolf Launcher once it starts up

Do you mean this skips having to select the stupid profile? If so - THANK YOU!

Yes! It does and most of you had a problem that when you go into settings or the quick actions(you hold the home button) It was pushing you to the wolf, this was so because you were selecting the package/app "KFTV Launcher". instead do the following -> Profiles: you can select Application > then click on the "All" button > there will be an app/activity "Home" > Click that and enable Wolf Task with it.

This way only when the Home activity of the KFTV Launcher runs the trigger will be activated instead of the Launcher itself

Hmm, I'm not seeing a profileactivity or anything related to profiles on my cube gen2. But thank you on the home app tip, that indeed was there and helps!

@xnappo Have you tried loading the AutoVoice app on the firestick. I tried installing it but inside it says googleapiclient is not connected. Any fixes for this error? Sorry if its not related to this thread directly. As it involves Tasker I thought it would be okay.

Sadly, no. In-app purchases don't work with the Google store hack.

The Tasker dev is working on a non-Google licensing service, but it hasn't launched yet.

Depending on what you are trying to do, you might look into Voice Monkey.

hmm.. Its not about the in-app purchases, because its a free app but What is the Google store hack exactly? because the error it says is that google play services are not available on this device -> hence I can't login through google account. Voice Monkey is possible but I needed a nice and just on the device solution rather than connecting webhooks what not. Using autovoice I could use their "Alexa home automation devices" feature and then hook it up with tasker on the firestick and do some neat things with it.
ps: I downloaded the apk and sideloaded it

It is a free app, but has in-app purchase to allow more functionality. I assume since you have Tasker working you read my post here:

@8figalltimepro - FYI maybe I wasn't clear, you can use Voice Monkey directly from Tasker. It does use webhooks, but you get send them from Tasker.

Honestly this is exactly what AutoVoice does too - it just makes the integration a little easier.

Just use the 'HTTP Request' task type.

Ahh okay, anyways I Got It working in another way but disabled it after 1 hour because there was no use at all I could think of. Sometime we get excited so much into doing something but we forget if we have any utility for it. LOL. Anyways thank You

:)

In my case, I used Tasker to make an OSD that comes up with I hit the '1' button on the remote.

The 'Lights' command triggers Voice Monkey.

But like you said, it is mostly useless lol - I never use it because I have an 'Alexa Movie Time' voice routine I use instead. It was fun to make tho.

Is there a way to force shutdown (instead of standby), when pressing the power button?
Maybe with tasker...

Bascially this one is by xnappo but I had quite some problems to follow his guide here:

I wrote it again to make it a bit easier for other people, who wants to try this. In combination with setting this up remotely with PC and "scrcpy".

--- Remotely control FireTV with your PC ---
1. Download the latest release of scrcpy from here: https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy/releases
2. make a shortcut of scrcpy.exe + right click on it > properties
3. insert in destination after scrcpy.exe: --tcpip=<your FireTV IP> -b 2M -m 1024 --max-fps=15 --legacy-paste
4. Open the scrcpy.exe shortcut

--- Install Apps ---
1. Install Tasker + Termux (sideload or via AptoideTV)

--- Install ADB + set Permissions ---
1. Open Termux and copy/paste the following:
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y

apt update > /dev/null 2>&1 && apt --assume-yes install wget > /dev/null 2>&1 && wget https://github.com/MasterDevX/Termux-ADB/raw/master/InstallTools.sh -q && bash InstallTools.sh

adb shell pm grant net.dinglisch.android.taskerm android.permission.READ_LOGS

adb shell pm grant net.dinglisch.android.taskerm android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW
(last command might not be need, not sure)

--- Setting up Tasker ---
1. Go to Tasks make a new Task called "Wolf"
2. Add action > Code > ADB Wifi > Command
3. paste the following: am start -n "com.wolf.firelauncher/.screens.launcher.LauncherActivity"
4. go back and add another action > App > Kill App
5. select "KFTV Launcher" (Icon with avatar)
6. Go back to Profiles and add > Event > enter Log > click on Logcat Entry > Filter and paste:
amazon.intent.action.HOME_PRESSED
7. Select Task "Wolf" and save
Thanks for the brilliant helper. I have been looking for a Fire TV stick 4k max + Wolf fix for quite a while. Today, knowing very little about what I was doing I followed your guide. It did not go smoothly but several hours later it works! My biggest problem was that the Firestick web keyboard kept getting in the way. But this also may have been the virtual keyboard of Termux. I'm not sure, I read that I had to turn Termux's virtual keyboard off. But never knew if I had succeeded.

Now I just hope that Amazon don't kill it in 24 hrs time.

For reference. the 4k max is ver OS 7.6.3.3 (PS7633/3445). Termux ver 0.118. Tasker ver 6.1.32 Note, I also had to run the Tasker-permissions app on the PC as requested by Tasker. This isn't mentioned in the procedure.

Now I have to try to repeat this on my other two firesticks :(

Question. 1). What is function is Termux providing? I cannot see the connection.
2). I am blocking Amazon updates using the router, is this really necessary?

Thanks again!

Don't know about the keyboard problem, I am using LeanKeyboard and I did this remotely with scrcpy (copy & paste commands). Maybe this only happens with the original FireTV keyboard app. I can recommend LeanKeyboard over the standard one anyway.

I didn't use the Tasker Permissions App on the PC - this might be an alternative to Termux.
I think you send the ADB permission commands via PC, instead of doing it with Termux directly on the FireTV itself.
And I use an older version of Tasker: 5.14.6 (without google apps).

I think it's not neccessary to block Amazon updates. I don't think that Amazon will block the Tasker app with an update.
I had some updates and it's still working. The main Amazon home button functionality is still there, it's just Tasker, which runs the command to open Wolf Launcher after Home was pressend. But bascially nothing was changed in the system.
Nevertheless of course you can block updates, if you want to be on the safe side.

I made our firestick's UI simple, much like a Roku, using Wolf's launcher. These past weeks using the Amazon UI has been hell (family complaining). I was literally at the point of selling them and getting Nvidia Shield's. So your solution has been a lifeline.

Based on what you write, I suspect that the Termux part did go wrong for me. If it was only used to set the permissions for Tasker, then I assume now that I can remove it?

I will now attempt the next Firestick. But will try Tasker on its own and see if it prompts for the Tasker Permission app to be used. It just might work, and is simple to perform.

The only downside is that I was using the Techdoctor screensaver app + Apple Aerial Dream. Sadly this is no longer is working. I dont know why there is a conflict. Perhaps Tasker could be used, but I don't know how to get Aerial to run the videos. I can live without it.

After everything was set up, yes you can remove Termux.

Aerial's working, ah, that's good news. I will try a fresh install. By chance, I was just looking into something similar called Aerial Views screensaver. Thanks!

Hey guys, I took a hint from Wolf's new launch manager and tried using 'adb wifi' in Tasker instead of all the Termux stuff. It is much faster and so far stable!

I think Wolf's new manager will be best for most people, but I am using Tasker for a bunch of other stuff so will probably stick with it.

I was able to expand on it and add some more cool stuff:

There are existing ways to remap remote app buttons following this guide:

    https://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-remap-the-app-buttons-on-fire-tv-edition-remotes-with-remapper

    But the guide mentions that:

"Important limitations: Buttons for preinstalled apps, like Prime Video, IMDb TV, and Amazon Music, cannot be remapped. This is because there is no way to uninstall preinstalled apps and you cannot remap a button if the button’s app is installed.".

I'm providing an alternative to that:

To re-purpose Amazon Prime remote button with another app I used:
    catlog entry filter: KEYCODE_APP_2
    for my script I used:
    adb shell am force-stop com.amazon.firebat
adb shell am start -n "your app package name"
Only using it once in the Tasks (no repeats needed).

To re-purpose Tv Guide remote button with another app I used:
catlog entry filter: Binding to Prism Service from: com.amazon.tv.livetv
    for my script I used:
adb shell am start -n "your app package name"
Only using it once in the Tasks (no repeats needed).

Let me know if you have any additional suggestions or improvements or ideas. Thanks!

And yet another method. I have found this to be quite stable and maybe a bit more consistent speed-wise. Also slightly easier to set up.

Instead of doing a Profile based on Logcat, I use:
    Profile->Event->App Changed

Then in the task, I check to see if:
    %app_name EQ KFTV Launcher

And if so, then run the Termux launch script.

Indeed - I mention that in a later port, but I realize this is a very long thread :)

Unfortunately if I remember right, someone else with a 'FireTV Stick' mentioned this. I can just say that this is not the case with the 'FireTV Cube3' nor, from my understanding with 'FireTV 4K'.
Thanks for this. I mentioned how I set the required Tasker permissions, thinking maybe that was the error on my part. But today Tasker worked fine. So I will just see how things go.

I think AuroraStore should work too (I'm not sure if google maybe blacklists your account if you use this). But you still have to buy it. Or you find a way to use Easer :)

@xnappo I'm not for or against opensource, I was just naming an alternative.
