How do I check if the permission are correct? I replaced the file already but I just need clarification of what permissions to change or check.

Thank You for the mod still!
If you followed the method laid out in op then you have changed the permissions correctly

To clarify this is the last command you would have typed in via terminal emulator

If you went about it a different way then you have options
Run the change mode command in terminal emulator or with adb
Fix permissions in recovery
Or if you flashed one of the zips in this thread it would have done it for you, same with aroma installer

You can also use a good file manager such as root explorer to change, you can also easily check permissions with this or a number of other apps in the play store

Holly crap @warBeard_actual
I notice network speeds seemed better ever since I tried using your tweaks but never bother to check until now

I was getting around 25mbs down now I'm over 80! And not just a one time fluke, this is consistent , 70ish on my lowest test!

Wasn't expecting a near 4 fold increase, awesome!

So for example if I gave the post boot and used file explorer with root permission and moved it using that root explorer, then the permissions would be correct?

Just moving it with a file explorer won't change permissions, you need to then change after move

See screenshot

Or go ahead and flash my aroma package, this will auto do it

Very likely the two things are unrelated. Although I do appreciate your willingness to pop in and say thanks!

Nothing I changed would have really done anything to unleash some restricted network speed in your area. Congestion protocols are pretty straight forward and "Westwood" could handle that type of traffic with no issues.

That isn't to say there wasn't a small improvement. I know on my end there was a slight bump. But it wasn't that much. I live in an area that consistently sees 11 MB/s down

Haha, well you did something here
I have had my v10 for a couple months and the first while I consistently got around 25mbs down
The only thing I have changed that has anything related to data speed is your tweaks
So unless T-Mobile did something special in my area lately then I can only attribute this to you [emoji7]

My previous phone, oneplus one, I consistently got around 50-60 down and this was always one of the best

Maybe I'll test without your mod and report back, but for now, youre my hero!

....now if you can only fix my mms issue.... I'm lost on this one...

But it's already 644 by default right? I've been using FX explorer without issue.
I don't use FX explorer so can't say for sure, but I have never seen a file explorer that automatically changes permissions when you add or change a file.
If you want I can only assume that your file explorer of choice allows you to check what permissions each file has, so feel free to see if it is correct
If not, correct it if you want it to work

Opps, forgot to refresh so ended up replying to old post. But yeah, I agree with @demkantor no file explorer i have come across so far has automatically assigned the proper permissions required when a file is copied to the system directory or it's branches. There is a good chance that maybe your system was R/O and you tried the copy, and it may have failed but you didn't realize it. If you did not set the 0644 permissions to the file, but they were already set, then that may have been what happenend.

Maybe you can compare the files sizes of the lastest tweak and your file or compare the hashes

It opens the file immediately as a text file.
Now I C. It's working, just not as u intended. Whenever u have that issue, try holding the link until a box pops up, and choose save link.

Have u tried Tapatalk or using the XDA app? U wouldn't have even had the issue. Hell, support XDA even if u don't use it. ?
