Box.net is giving away 50Gb to people with LG android devices.

I edited my xoom build.prop with root explorer, rebooted, installed box from the market, and signed in.
Here are the values i edited

ro.product.model=VS910 4G
ro.product.manufacturer=LGE

It might be wise to make a nandroid.
Confirmed working!!! The second it signed in, it said I'd been upgraded to 50GB's of storage. Sweet.... Thanks for the tip.

Yes. It's just like signing in from a different device. Your 50gb are yours free forever.

What did you try/not try? Did you edit your build.prop in root explorer then save it, reboot, download the app after editing and rebooting?

There is no email announcement. You may have missed the notification in app. Have you checked your Box.net account online from a browser? If you have followed the instructions you should see the storage available as 50GB+

and you find your post relevant because?
Wow, you got me on that one! Well played, sir.

I think the question is valid because........ many times folks talk about free tethering. And many say, that's stealing. In this case, one is obtaining free storage, and its associated band width, for free; under false pretenses.

So while you might not understand the post, I'm sure others might. I thought it worth asking. Feel free to ignore.

Lastly - instead of attacking me, perhaps offering your thought-provoking perspective might have been a bit more helpful. Just saying.......

I ran into the same problem. I download box after making the appropriate changes and rebooting. then I opened the app and saw only 5.0 GB. I had to submit a trouble ticket since even on the webpage, there was NO indication of being 50GB - only 5GB.

I just tried it on my old Dinc with CM7 and another email address. It's still working. I don't know why it's not working for you. The build prop is probably case sensitive and I've found mine in /system.

Thanks!!! Great!

I'd like to add that this worked for an existing account, even if BOX has been previously installed in the device being used for the hack.

Just uninstall BOX, change the file, reboot, reinstall and login with your existing account (or register a new one). Like other users have been saying, a dialog will popup telling you your acct has been upgraded to 50Gb.

Not working for me, can those who got it working give more build prop detail? I'm on 3.1, UK zoom 3g.

Edit: My bad, I edited brand (directly below model), instead of Manufacturer, further down. Worked straight away soon as I fixed it.
