Hello. I have a problem with my fingerprint scanner:

About 2 or 3 months ago, I flashed this ROM, wiped all my files, and then re-flashed just in case.
When I first flashed it, my fingerprint scanner worked
But now, after reflashing it, I don't have any option in Settings to add my fingerprint, neither does thirdparty apps recognize it
I haven't considered it being a problem at that moment, but now that my power button is starting to fail, it's starting to be annoying
(I flashed it with the exact same zip file as the first time, since I did the first and second flash the same day)

Other stuff about the ROM seems working fine, just the fingerprint doesn't work
I've installed the latest version of the ROM as far as I know
LineageOS version: 14.1-20220121-UNOFFICIAL-cedric
Security patch date: June 5, 2021
(I will attach some screenshots to show the problem + About phone)

Is there a way to make it working again without reflashing?

Fingerprint will only work if your stock firmware is android 7

If you have upgraded your base stock firmware to android 8 then it will not work

Flash the following part from android 7 only

(If you flash a later android version custom rom based on android 8 stock firmware then repeat below but with android 8 firmware files)

fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn

Experimental new build with June 05th, 2022 security patches available

https://www.dropbox.com/s/g4r00b7vlb4boce/lineage-14.1-20220609-UNOFFICIAL-cedric.zip?dl=1

This build is to be considered alpha as it is lacking two patches from July 2021 as can be read on Gerrit. The patches from August have been merged, September through June have also been included, but no updated patch level. It still reports June 5th, 2021, as it is lacking the two patches from July from the "not implemented" section. There seems to be no progress in backporting these patches :-(

Gerrit Topic June 2022 lists all of 16 patches.

I've got it installed and running on my own device for almost a day now.

As always, these builds don't contain any patches to closed source drivers, as those would have to be supplied by Lenovo. Who have long since stopped supporting this device.

Builds prior to February 14th, 2022 have been deleted from my dropbox to mitigate space constraints.

Use at your own risk!

Regards
Ektus.

I built this ROM with signature spoofing support (patches from microG project) and security patches up to 2022-07 included.

Build lineage-14.1-20220718-UNOFFICIAL-cedric-signed.zip

- Open source Gesture typing on AOSP Keyboard (without Gapps). Thanks to @nift4
- Clock app with dark dismiss animation.
- Signature spoofing support (microG support).
- Android Security Patch: July, 2022.
(Settings reports June 2021 security patch as Nougat isn't supported anymore by AOSP, but LineageOS still backports patches from newer Android versions).

Signed with my own keys, clean flash mandatory if not updating from previous matiusuario's build.
Nougat firmware needed as base.

Known bugs:
None? (shortly tested by me).

For more information see the README.txt

@ektus, hats of to you for still providing monthly builds! It's been a while since I said goodbye to my Moto G5...

Now that I'm also publishing monthly builds for my current device (Pixel 4a) I was wondering: how are you able to make a build with February's security patches when they haven't even been merged for LineageOS 17, 18 & 19? More so, how can you publish monthly security updates when the last merged patches to the LineageOS 14.1 branch occured one year ago?

I think you are including all the unmerged patches somehow? And there's not enough people working on backporting the patches to get merges approved? Is that it?

ps Did you know you can also make the built-in updater work? It's pretty neat:

There's a link to Gerrit in all my announcements, and what I do is simply repopick those commits and build from that. The reason for those patches not having been merged is mainly those two elusive patches from 2021 that haven't been backported, and perhaps the unwillingness of the official LOS maintainers to support old versions. I can't guarantee that what's available on Gerrit and thus in my builds is complete, but I build them nonetheless and use them in my main mobile phone.
No, I didn't know the updater can be made to work. Haven't bothered yet, as transferring the files manually works. The OTA and manual install files are identical anyways, but to automate these updates I should probably first switch to signed builds...

you need to change the following locally go to your lineageos directory build/core and search version_defaults.mk open search for ifndef PLATFORM_SECURITY_PATCH
and change the date PLATFORM_SECURITY_PATCH := to "2023-03-05"

here an example

do not know if you know this
to update the webview
must be implemented manually.

For this we create a file named webviews.xml (filename can be different) in the directory .repo/local_manifests with the following content:

XML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<manifest>
  <remove-project name="LineageOS/android_external_chromium-webview" />

  <project path="external/chromium-webview/patches" name="LineageOS/android_external_chromium-webview_patches" groups="pdk" revision="main" >
    <linkfile src="Android.mk" dest="external/chromium-webview/Android.mk" />
    <linkfile src="CleanSpec.mk" dest="external/chromium-webview/CleanSpec.mk" />
    <linkfile src="README" dest="external/chromium-webview/README" />
  </project>
  <project path="external/chromium-webview/prebuilt/arm" name="LineageOS/android_external_chromium-webview_prebuilt_arm" groups="pdk" clone-depth="1" revision="main" />

</manifest>

After that run repo sync.

this i got from a colleague who is at lineagos Gerrit

I won't do that, as I'm only building what's available on LOS and Gerrit. As long as there are patches missing, I won't report a patch level that isn't there. As for the webview, on my device that is updated by Google Play, as I've OpenGAPPs installed.
Any changes you would like to see in my builds, please submit them to Gerrit first. I'm not a programmer but merely a user who employs a couple script commands to build for my own use and share as it's already there.

    Just a short notice: I've had to upgrade my build machine (bigger mass storage and update Mint 19 to Mint 21 or thereabouts) and in the process my build environment was damaged. I'ts been restored to a point where I can successfully build for N5110, but not for Cedric :-(
    I'm still investigating the cause and will ask here once I know more. Looks like it's when trying to compile the kernel, somewhere in kernel/motorola/msm8937/scripts/dtc, but it may take me some (or even a lot) more time. Or somebody here can give me a hint?

    LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7 (nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.
