LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
It is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>

/*
 * Your warranty is now void.
 *
 * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
 * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
 * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
 * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
 *
 */

This thread is for Official LineageOS 14.1 builds for k3gxx (SM-G900H). The following will not be supported here:
Custom kernels
Mods
Xposed
Magisk

I don't support Xposed/Magisk and any logcat which includes a Xposed/Magisk module will be ignored. You're kindly invited to not report bugs if you:
Flashed a custom kernel
Installed or did mods from untrusted sources
Modified system files

Want Root access??
Just flash with TWRP the LineageOS SU Addon zip file found on the download section... Flash it after you have flashed Google Apps!!!
Then enable the developer options menu with this guide:
To enable Developer Options, open the Settings screen, scroll down to the bottom, and tap About phone or About tablet.
Scroll down to the bottom of the About screen and find the Build number.
Tap the Build number field seven times to enable Developer Options. Tap a few times and you’ll see a toast notification with a countdown that reads “You are now X steps way from being a developer.”
When you’re done, you’ll see the message “You are now a developer!”. Congratulations. Don’t let this newfound power go to your head.
Tap the Back button and you’ll see the Developer options menu just above the “About Phone” section in Settings. This menu is now enabled on your device—you won’t have to repeat this process again unless you perform a factory reset.
Now go into the developers options menu and find the option to enable root access!!

Flashed the SU Addon and now you want to remove it from your phone??
Just download the LineageOS SU Addon remover and flash it with TWRP...

OTAs aren't working!! How do I fix this?!
Chillax... You need to update your TWRP recovery for the OTAs to work...
Please go to the TWRP k3gxx Page with this link and download the last version (twrp-3.1.1-1)

Great work and congrats on official! I can finally unify my devices.

Except...

This is now the 4th rom that has a problem with sim cards. Is this a know thing? Are there any workarounds?

I will be more than happy to pass any logcat or debug file along (link to logger in post #1 not working). But I find it really interesting that with the latest batch of N roms for the G900h, they all have the same sim card issue.

And please do not tell me to try and insert the sim card WHILE the device is on.

---------- Post added at 08:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:07 PM ----------

Info I can give right off the bat:
  • Device is G900h (k3gxx)
  • SIM Card is for Mobile Telephone Networks (MTN) South Africa (655-10)
  • Previous ROM: RR N 5.8.4-20170815
  • Advanced wipe: System, data, cache, dalvik
  • Flashed ROM found on official LoS site
  • Flashed GApps 7.1 arm nano
  • Wiped dalvik
  • Reboot
  • Device during setup does not detect presence of SIM card.

Additional steps after completing setup:
  • Powered off device
  • Removed SIM card
  • Booted device without SIM card in
  • Powered off device
  • Replaced SIM card and booted
  • SIM card still not detected
  • From setting, Network settings reset. No effect.

Logcat for network:
Code:

Additional issue detected:

Usually I skip the Google Assistant initial setup during device first boot just to get through it.

Device does not hear "Okay Google" keyword as well as being able to use voice search (from hotword or pressing the mic button).

Tested mic on sound recorder, low volume but audible. Tested with Video Camera, low volume but audible.

I will provide a full logcat within the next few hours (I gotta get some sleep)

Previous ROM worked fine, so I'm not sure if my EFS partition is at play here.

I have noted that I have seen a few people using other ROMs (not with this ROM [yet?]) say after flashing that have no signal/no SIM card detected. It may be an isolated instance or it could be something in a shared library (though I may be wrong).

Just flashed the official build to test it out... I really didn't have time to test it before, but I correctly assumed everything works cause it is built with the same trees as the unofficial builds...
The RIL works fine on my device... so you have a problem in your phone mate...

Anything you can see from the logs provided in post #10?

No, I need a full log... if you can get the logs with syslog it is better... so I get to see the modem log and the kmesg...
The issue will most likely pop up in the modem log...
That was taken using Syslog. All logs zipped up neatly. At any rate, I'll run it again and upload i shortly.

[If I am doing something wrong, my apologies, new field for me (bug logging that is)]

Attached, please find Modem, kmsg and a zip of all the additional logs generated by Syslog.

If you need something else, just give a shout (I'll get this process right one say :p )

Are you sure you cleaned flashed the ROM, no backups restored from TWRP, and the most important of all, no mods? your log is weird, you have selinux denials... but I wrote rules for those files, so something weird is going on here...
