So how do you guys go about adding new features to the ROM, tearing down each apk and editing the smali code and then rebuilding? <- is that really the only way to change source?

I'm just trying to understand how you guys go about doing stuff with HTC's source.

I can get down to decompiling classes.dex but after that smali is a totally different world. You can kinda get to java source but I understand that it's kinda useless, because its just a best guess at what the true source is.

any advice for someone like me looking to "play around" in HTC's source? other than learn smali

I was going to make a little mod, but since we can't fully access the source i'm not sure if I can smali edit the apk's and jar's (i'm not all that good at smali)

There is no platform source for HTC sense as it's proprietary, so we essentially decompile and modify the existing jars and apks to support additional features or the toggling of existing ones by inserting calls that are controlled by the gui tweaks app

The venom apps however (tweaks, superuser, filemanager, hub, theme apks, and so on) are source built apks (some using sense sdk) created by monarx and Jan

I fully expected to pick up a Verizon One, until the waited 6 months to release it, at which point I had no interest in a 6 month old phone

I plan on getting the max, as long as Verizon doesn't drag their feet on it like the one.
