Thanks for this rom, any update in camera quality? Any samples? Thanks again
Writing "please fix asap" won't help your case. It's rude and you come off demanding. The camera has been the hardest part for all custom roms that are not based on Sonys firmware. Have patience instead. At first, you did a great job with this new rom. :good:
Sorry to say, the camera access error persists. Preinstalled version (com.android.camera2 - V2.0.002) cleared cache again an restart initial setup with no luck. Camera crashed always.
Error: Can't connect to camera.
If you are using the any other app via Google PlayStore same error message. Please fix asap, because it's the last but very necessary main feature of this Z3 ROM. Thank you very much.
Best regards,
ms_ff
Hi, as a modder for video games, I'm afraid to see how far there is a gap between our community...Writing "please fix asap" won't help your case. It's rude and you come off demanding. On the other side, @Myself5 great to see you working on the z3.I know it's been a though journet. It's been awhile since I've visited the z3 forums as I currently use Nexus 6 but this rom want's me to get back to custom rom testing on the z3 again!
One should think a community modder would have the ability to determine whos an user that tries to explain the XDA rules and who's the ROMs dev. Small hint. It's usually the OP.Hi, as a modder for video games, I'm afraid to see how far there is a gap between our community...
I'm always facing same request or question but i never saw this kind of reply from any other modders team... seems to be a desease here, every post i read is full of unfriendly word from the devs ! I saw CarbonROM developpement statut when it was not released yet and you don't Speak well with your community. You need to be more patient with user, they obviously don't understand a line of your code (except One or two), they do exactly what you were asking: bug report, feature request... Most of them thanks you a lot... Never forget that without these person your ROM is nothing.
I think that your ROM post need more info : what is working ; what is not (on the current build), supported devises.. Of course xda is a heaven for dev and most of People here are aware of jenkins structure, git etc... But some person don't understand, so maybe give a begginner guide. That would be great.
I really like your work but i dislike your communication way.
Best regards,
Gazatus
While I agree with everything you said, I would like to remind you that for every rude comment in this thread there are 20+ people patiently waiting and following development, who are grateful for all the progress made on this ROM and on the platform in general. Even if on the surface the community can seem obnoxious at times, I don't think there is reason to lose faith in it. The shinano paltform is full of great devices, talented developers and patient (and quiet) community members. One should think a community modder would have the ability to determine whos an user that tries to explain the XDA rules and who's the ROMs dev. Small hint. It's usually the OP.
There is a BIG difference between providing a bugreport and being the average XDA jerk user.
I am totally open to Bug reports and Feature requests. Hell, I appreciate them a lot. But there is a slight difference between a "The cam is not working under case X" and "plox fix asap, I needz".
This thread should include at least 3 times me saying that I can not fix the camera as the camera drivers are closed source provided by the Sony Open Devices Project. A simple search would have answered that before. I don't expect everone to understand the code, I never asked for that. What I expect people to do is READ and use the search. If that is asking too much, they should probably buy an self explaining iPhone.
Of cause the users are what make custom ROMs. Yes. But i don't need users telling me "fix/add dis or I won't use your Romz". There are always 2 ways to formulate a question.
What would you want to hear: "Sadly, the camera quality is a dealbreaker for me at the moment, neeed to move back to stock" or "fix this cam dev, else I womt use dis ****z"?
Both sentences have the very same meaning, just that the first one is what I read, understand and take care of (even though in some limited cases I can't do much about it) and the latter is acting like I owe them something.
Developers put a LOT of time and effort into their projects (you know what I am talking about) so it is DEFINITELY NOT asking too much to exept an answer like the first one. I am taking care of 3 Sony devices and 4 other devices. What do you think, how many "rude" comments to the other devices get? Right! None. Literally none. Nexus users know what their developers are worth, and hence threat them in a proper manner. Sony users however think they are god and that the developers owe them something. Here is a hint people. We don't. There are no double questions on the Nexus threads either, seems like all of them know how to use a search.
The Sony devices are close to get a real stable stock bringup with CAF based ROMs, thanks to the great archievements that were made on the kitakami platform, they are close to get back their glory they once had. But if this community keeps on acting the way it does, you won't experience any of that. Do you really think any developer wants to work with users like that? Think about how many devs left the Sony community so far. Just think about that, then check how many good and talented developers you have remaining. Do you really want to risk losing them too, then keep on acting like that.
There is a reason why in the dev scene the Sony user community is not certainly the most liked one.
Think about it.
TL;DR: (Because people that are too lazy to read the first sentence of an OP probably won't read an whole essay either): USE THE SEARCH!!!!

Yes. That was another hint.
We are all grateful for your effort and waiting for future development, I'm sure many of us even can donate this project if it becomes fully usable. One should think a community modder would have the ability to determine whos an user that tries to explain the XDA rules and who's the ROMs dev. Yes. That was another hint.
You can also donate in order to help making it fully usable Or even to show your gratitude for all the work that has been already madeWe are all grateful for your effort and waiting for future development, I'm sure many of us even can donate this project if it becomes fully usable.
There will be always some new xda users who dont understand how coding works. No need to disappoint other users because of that.
That sounds like a lot better bug report. The Website is WIP, we are working on that but are focusing on the ROMs.That was not my intention to diss somebody. Therefore I want to apologise for any inconvenience.
It was not a command to do that what I wantStill I' m really overwhelmed about this very good 7.1.1 ROM.:good::good::good:
That's for me daily business. Almost all communications between depatments and developers are the same way. Nobody understand it as rude. Sorry if it was for you.
Back to the main problem. What kind of bugrepprt do you need. Sorry to say, but could you please provide a link for an official bugreport for you. What content is needed to support you suitable bugreport. If possible I would provide you a dumpfile or log. There are a kind of links on carbonrom.org (Jenkins, Gerrit and JIRA). Sorry to say, that no link works currently.
Testing around with different qr-code reading apps. It's amazing, but there it is possible to activate the back camera. Got an other wording of the pop-up errormessage within "Open Camera". The camera preview is not accassable. Back camera perists black. The use of the front-camera is prvided with a really noisy preview. Photos taken by the front camera are reduced of noise. Seems to be only a problem with the back camera.
Thank you very much.
I'm not saying that devs own something to user, I'm just afraid how far this forum is corrupted by "unfriendly" statement, so far i aggree with you about learning and teaching, but you can't teach someone by saying he 's dump. You are right it's easier to critic than making, i'll send a txt paragraph to OP soon with that i got in mind about first post. Maybe we could close this dialog or go private.@Gazatus Developers do not owe the users anything. It feels disturbing to know that you feel that their ROM wouldn't be what it is because of their users. That statement is wrong. Developers create, share and learn from each other and that's not something that the average XDA jerk user is there to provide. XDA is about teaching and learning. It's not a support line. It's not what it used to be and that's why many developers has left. I have great respect for devs such as @Myself5 who has laid down so much time of his life to this device even with the users treating him as a "fix this now" support. The OP has really well written paragraphs about Support. I suggest you/anyone to read it to get a background on why devs are tired on spoon-feeding the users. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for a lifetime." There is nothing wrong with the first post. If you think there is then you're welcome to write it yourself and send it to Myself5 and ask him if he would like to change his first post with what you have provided him with and at the end of the day he might say yes or no and you'll have to accept that the OP does have a life outside XDA too.
I'm in the talks with the others and get updated on it all day.I'm not saying that devs own something to user, I'm just afraid how far this forum is corrupted by "unfriendly" statement, so far i aggree with you about learning and teaching, but you can't teach someone by saying he 's dump. I've just tested your ROM Myself, I didn't get into trouble so far, except with camera of course... Can you check what lineage os 14.1 wip thread have done ? He's saying that a fork of his kernel let the camera works as stock. I'm not an Android / Linux dev so i can't help, but maybe it could help you to read his dev statut. Sounds promissing.
I'm currently using the ROM, what screenshots do you want? Please some show me any screenshot![]()
This rom i must install like clean rom or on another sony rom?
