I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and assume a couple things......

I assume the error occurred whilst flashing in TWRP and you are installing ROM over an existing custom kernel ?

If this is the case, the custom kernel ramdisk may be repacked using anything other that the Chainfire script supported "gzip" compression method, hence it errors during the script.

If you are using SkyHigh kernel, then it will give this warning due to the reason stated above. For my kernel, this isn't an issue, and kernel should be reflash AFTER any ROM flash (after first boot), and ignore the error.

If anything else than my assumptions, then sorry, don't know

SkyHigh kernel == "original" experience, no cheap "Knock off" like most others. Credit given where credit is earned..... not stolen !!

Thanks a lot. Btw i flash rom v13.8 then flash skyhigh kernel v5.8 and flash n9208 dual fix mm last after all i reboot system but still get lost imei and baseband can u help me??

Flash rom, reboot and set it up. Then boot into recovery again and flash dual fix and then without exiting recovery flash skyhigh kernel. Then reboot. It works for my n920cd

I'm currently testing other ROM, but that usually happens due to bad signal or check if the app is granted with autorun permission in the Smart Device settings:

If you have that option, try that and report back!

I don have that app but this rom have "autostart" option. Whatsapp is activated but the problem persist.

Hi, i really like this rom and i have read over and over various posts on solving my problem but i am not getting successfully results. i have a N9200 i have installed ER13.8 but everytime i install it i loose my baseband. this is what i am doing.
1. Stock 6.0.1 original rom = at this point i have baseband and network and IMEI.
2. Root
3. Install TWRP
4. Install ER13.8 after its done i have no network, baseband or IMEI
5. Install N9200_DUALSIM_FIX_MM.zip and SM-N9200--kernel-SkyHigh_MM_v5.8.1-[16-08-17].zip
6. Reboot still no baseband, network and imei

can someone give me some help on how to get back my baseband and network and imei. i have a backup of EFS for odin and TWRP as well.

You could try Data Usage Monitor from the Play Store

I'm tyring to flash ERv13.8 via TWRP 3.0.2-0 on my N920W8.
I did the WIPE 3 times, and then when I want to flash the ZIP file, I get this error msg:

Creating Symlinks
symlink: some symlinks failed
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file.... [I]blah blah blah...[/I]

Why is this happening?

@TEKHD : Do you know if your ROM is compatible with my phone model? I have the Canadian version of the Note 5, N920W8, but apparently it is similar to the N920T.

when i install stock rom everything is fine the phone works and i have baseband its when i flash custom rom i loose baseband.

You have dowloanded the correct twrp or not ?..try to find the latest twrp for w8 version ...i have the same problem with a older twrp ...with latest twrp i flashed many of roms for my w8 canadian version for now i am on infinity rom p9 note 7 port
