You should use the latest Pixel Experience, there is an Android 12 post.

When flashing GSIs, you must format data, not factory reset your device.
In factory reset, data partition is wiped, not formatted.

Try formatting and post an update, it will be useful for other people.

Thanks for your reply. Here's a couple of things I tried:

Format data using TWRP then flash with fastboot - failed
Format using erecovery then flash with fastboot - failed
Format using fastboot -w command then flash with fastboot - failed

I've checked the Android 12 thread, thanks for your suggestion. Went to their download page and couldn't find image file for aonly for Android 12 so I downloaded Android 11 aonly instead. And attempt the above methods again but still fail.

edited: by failed I mean it keeps showing "Your device is booting now..." and landed on eRecovery after a few bootloops.

    How to install
    Extract the image
    Fastboot: Issue command in adb directory:
    fastboot flash system <imagedir>
    TWRP: Install > Install image > Choose image file > Flash to system
