sprint s7 edge that was unlocked

I have a sprint gs7 edge that was supposedly unlocked. I put my att sim in it and it required me to change the APN info. what I noticed other than the annoying sprint screens, is it never shows the 4g lte icon, and also wont send mms when connected to wifi. should flashing the U firmware rectify these issues? its a SM-G935P, with software version G935PVPU4BQD2 on android version 7.0. I downloaded odin and all the files from the google drive downloader to do it, but im not sure this fixes what im asking for.

I can't figure out which firmware i need to download, the one with product code usc or product code tmk. does anyone know the difference?
Do you have the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930P)? If so, it appears you should use neither of those files, but rather the Sprint version of the 930U firmware: SM-G930U SPR Spint (cdma) - G930UUEU4BQD2

https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930U/SPR/download/G930UUEU4BQD2/130774/

I have not done so yet so I cannot 100% confirm, but I've been reading this thread in preparation and that's what I've found.

So I finally took the plunge and flashed to nougat 930u. I had to flash it twice before it worked. I was on stock pc5. The initial flash I didn't extract odin and ran the exe file from winrar and did not tick off the re-partition box. My phone was stuck in download mode and odin said failed. I was freaking out especially when I restarted the phone and it gave me some error message. So at this point I felt like I had a dead phone so decided to flash again. The second time I extracted odin, ticked re-partition and switched to a different usb port. I was thinking maybe I had a bad download from sammobile even though I had it hard wired. I was going to download it again if the flash didn't work but thankfully it took!

Now it's been almost a week and can't be any happier! Hotspot works, wifi calling works and got rid of bloat and runs so much smoother. Only caveat as others have mentioned is no voicemail. So I signed up for google voice but it's not playing nice. Not sure what I'm doing wrong... So I have a few questions if any of you awesome folks can help out:
1. Is there some special trick that I need to do on google voice? I just signed up 2 days ago.
2. Do I need to flash again with the re-partition un-ticked? Did some googling on the topic and still confused
3. Where did the uicc unlock go? I no longer see it under system update

TIA! You guys rock!

I see that everyone reports "No voicemail" after flashing to 930U. Does that just mean that the app doesn't work (which triggers the error notifications), or that you can't even access your voicemail by dialing your own phone number, pressing *, and entering your voicemail pin? Theoretically, the latter should work from any phone, so I'd guess that still works but I'd like to confirm.

You can still dial your phone number and enter a pin to get voicemail .

I use Google Voice personally, and it works fine.

To answer your first question, yes, there was a special trick I had to do to get it to work for me, and that is to go to the regular desktop website (not mobile) of Google voice and there was a link to go to the "legacy" website which had a couple extra steps which included having to dial a special code that it gives you to register your Sprint number with Google voice. Sorry I'm on the road or else I'd be able to give you more specific instructions. Good luck with your other questions!

Been locked out thanks to Google 2FA

Hello, I have been tinkering around with my Sprint S7 to the point where I had done something that prevented me from using the phone regularly. I have since then done a factory reset via the recovery menu but I am unabke to get past FRP as my Google account uses 2 Factor Authentication but the set up screen won't allow any calls for the code to come through. Will flashing this firmware be able to bypass this security measure?

Why not disable your 2-factor authentication in order to get past it. Then go and reanable afterwards.

I'm not sure anything gets past the FRP. It's there for a reason.

Has anyone figured out how to get rid of the voicemail notification permanently?? I tried GV, but the notification was still there. I prefer the you mail app over GV. I chatted with Sprint and told them to disable visual voicemail completely, and the person said they did. This did not permanently remove the notification. Any ideas?? My work building has sparse cell signal, so my phone notifies me all day with the false voicemail notification. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try the steps found in the "Voicemail Issue" section of the OP?

I have a question. I build computers and work with windows operating systems but haven't really dabbed in the phone area yet. 3 years ago i rooted my galaxy s3 and it died a year later and still wont boot to this day. but anyway if i bought a galaxy s7 930p "P" version, sprint, and flash it to the the "U" version does that open up all GSM and LTE bands like the U version does? Or am i still stuck with sprints limited gsm and lte network bands. I'm asking because i'm a At&t customer. and or can i flash the "p" version to the "a"version to open up those gsm and lte bands?

It will open up all the bands. I have done this on a sprint s7 to use on AT&T

So Rushstrike before you flashed the spring s7 930p to the 'U" version you were NOT getting all the GSM and LTE bands when it was the 930p? so you flashed it to the 930u and it opened up all the GSM and LTE bands that was not opened when using 930P unlocked mode?

like i know the 930p version, even unlocked but still just the unlocked 930p version that it does not have all the GSM and LTE bands.

dont know what to do i can get the 930u for $330 and the 930a (att) for $270 and i can get the 930p for $235.

I did not bother checking what att band the original.firmware supports and just assumed it didn't. I flashed the U firmware asap as soon as I got the phone. PM me where you are getting these deals :) I'd like to buy one for a friend at those prices
