Would someone that already has the 930U QL1 firmware downloaded please post a link to a Google Drive or something similar? I really need the firmware and updato is extremely slow!

Thanks in advance

So was v5 bootloader not released on 930u I have the 930p but am now on tmobile service and I can't turn on Volte or hotspot because sprint sucks so I would like to be able to change it to the u version but I have bootloader v5.

No, U5 has not been release for g930u.

***NEVERMIND about the firmware. If anyone needs it I will be posting a link to my Google Drive soon.

Still patiently waiting for 930U v5 bootloader firmware ... Sprint one blows. I had the phone unlocked and while Tmobile SIM now shows up and I can make calls, data does not work at all and it does not allow me to touch APN settings. Any way around this to get GSM carrier data working on 930P? I'm on the latest QL1 it seems.

RA1 U Firmware update

Just got it OTA. Full ROM is available on sammobile.com and updateo.com. Just under 40MB, so probably not much more than security patch. Will update when I verify hotspot still working. Looks like it's still v4 bootloader...

Hotspot can still be enabled using Shortcut Master Lite... January 1, 2018 security patch level. I'm impressed!

EDIT: This is for the edge. I posted in wrong forum ( I have both the regular S7 and the edge). Regular S7 got the same update though. And it's available for download as well on sammobile. Not up yet on updato.com.

Flashed 930A to 930U to use on Verizon. Works great just says I'm roaming all the time. Any fix or am I missing something? I opened all the LTE Bands for Verizon and even tried flashing the Verizon Modem .
Isn't G930A AT&T variant? I heard it's possible to flash A rom bootloader v4 to P rom bootloader v5 but i still scare of bootloop. Can you confirm it?

Haven't heard this, but worst case scenario is that you just reinstall the latest sprint version. I have heard rumors of flashing the u modem to unlock the bands for other carriers... can't confirm though.

Someone on FB made the guide about install Oreo beta for S7. He claimed S7 Sprint latest can ODIN to G930AUCS4BRA1 without issue.
I got a lot of data to backup right now, so i don't want to risk getting softbrick.

Love the new firmware 930u as I'm coming from 930p. After several hours of research I have found out why the vvm will not work correctly. I believe The issue lies within the buildprop settings, most credit goes to this website on XDA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...s/modded-sprint-visual-voicemail-apk-t2994978
Now if we could find a way to change the default settings to the correct Sprint settings in the buildprop that would fix any of the issues. I will show you the default settings that (what I believe) need to be changed for the correct Sprint settings.

Currently---------
ro.product.model=SM-G930U
ro.product.name=heroqlteue
ro.product.device=heroqlteue

What it needs to be changed to-----------
ro.product.model=SM-G930U
ro.product.name=heroqltespr
ro.product.device=heroqltespr

Hopefully we can get somewhere with this?
was this ever found to work? or another method?

RD1 Update

Wow, Samsung isn't messing around with updates any more apparently. There's another update for U firmware in less than a month since the last one. This one looks to be more significant in that it's 363 MB, so it's more than just security updates. More good stuff, it's still v4 bootloader, and of course it's up on sammobile.com already too. Hotspot still works and APN can be still be edited using Shortcut Master Lite to enable hotspot if necessary. Haven't noticed any obvious differences or anything new so far. April 1, 2018 security patch level.

If only they would update that bootloader version, it would make many people happy

So latest firmware of G930P has arrived, kicked it to bootloader version 6: G930PVPU6BRD2. Sprint really go nut compare to other variants.
Look like it's still Nougat, OTA took around 300MB. I wouldn't go for it ofc, won't risk gettig too high or i won't be able to come down. Gotta try U firmware somehow.

P/S: Apparently my previous rumour about Oreo beta for G930P bootloader 5 is fake. Sorry.

That's great news for those wanting to flash U firmware; since bootloader is newer than stock, it can finally be flashed!

If anyone installs it, please report if hotspot hack still works plz.

I believe @huynhhungvnr was reporting about the Sprint firmware, not the G930U firmware for the Sprint variant.

Basically, people with the Sprint variant of the phone should not take the most recent G930P OTA update (which now has bootloader 6) if they are hoping to switch to the G930U firmware at some point. Hopefully, when the Android 8.0 Oreo G930U firmware is released, it will have at least bootloader 5, allowing for Sprint variant users to make the swap to G930U firmware then.

Been out of the android world for awhile and trying to get the hang of things again. So I just got this phone unlocked from Sprint and it's on [G930PVPU6BRD2]. Are you saying the process on page 1 will not work?

Yeah, sorry, but it won't work. The current bootloader is 2 versions newer than anything else. However, this could change when Oreo is released.

Additional info:
The 9th digit of the software version is the baseband number. So G930PVPU6BRD2 has baseband version 6 (G930PVPU***6***BRD2).

It has been reported all other variants of the phone are currently still on baseband version 4, including the U firmware.

In order to flash the U firmware, it needs to have the same baseband version (or possibly newer?) as the version on the phone that's being flashed.
