In update to my last post, I stumbled onto some more details, including a workaround. These lead me to believe that this behavior is related to the 'proximity sensor' (as it's called in phone settings) that turns off the screen while you're on a call and holding the phone to your face.

The disappearance seems to be triggered as my finger approaches the screen (<1cm away), rather than the actual touch itself. With a bit of experimenting, I uncovered the following details:

• The various apps I tested (Nova, touchwiz, calculator) do not register a touch at the distance that triggers the keypad disappearance
• (in dialer/phone) a quick jab will trigger a keypress without causing the keypad to disappear
• Behavior only occurs while a call is active. I can dial a phone number without problem, but once the call connects, this behavior occurs

Based on this information, I suspect the problem could be solved by implementing a delay into the proximity sensor so it requires a few hundred milliseconds of proximity before it triggers. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer (hardware/systems guy) so I can't fix it myself.

You can indeed install the modem yes. This rom works on the locked bootloader of NC1 one also. If your unlocked it will work also

This is a forum for the VZW S3 so if there is a forum for your device I'd suggest to check and see if it's an option. Otherwise installing a rom not intended for your device is a guaranteed brick

Unless someone has it now the links are all broken as you already know. Even on his AFH account the developer no longer supports the VZW S3. I'm leaning towards nope

On a side note I did find that I still have clean rom 8.2 and SOKP for the S3

Maybe you already know, but development stopped for the d2vzw over a year ago on this ROM. Many of the theme changes cannot be reversed. It's wise to have a backup of initial install to fall back on if you get things so fouled up you can't find a way to make it look right. Happened to me more than once.

Looks like this thread might be dead, but in the hopes that it's not...

I'd like to boost the speaker volume on this Rom through the default_gain.conf, but I'm not seeing it in root/systems/etc. Am I blind or is it somewhere else?

Ty so much for this you saved my but...ive been running CM12.1 LP 5.1.1 on my daughters 2 S3's for so long now and although its awesome to have 5.1.1 on such an old phone and everything worked great except for the one thing they use the most and thats the front facing camera taking selfies in apps like instagram and using video calling in apps like facebook messenger. I flashed Alliance and everything is working 100%. It may not be the newest but it definitely still is the greatest as it functions 100%...i cant understand why aosp and cm cant get their camera issues figured out? Its so frustrating and its been going on for years...get it done already....theres a review video on you tube of the new Nexus 5x which by the way Beans has an awesome rom for, and in the review vid, the 5x is out of the box, the front facing camera force closes!!! WTF really? So annoying. ..anyway thanx a lot i really appreciate it as do my daughters???

Looks like the volumes are in volume.db....i extracted it and their all in there. Havent messed with them yet though
