If you just google Messenger dark mode you can't really miss it
thank you for the messenger so far no ads no issues. will you make anything for fb app also? i installed the lc version it works just crashing sometimes.

I question and request depending on the answer:
Is there an option on this or the official Facebook app to always show posts chronologically ("newest first" instead of based on relevance and whatever the algorithm decides it is what you should see?
You can check the newest posts page on the normal app, but it's a cumbersome and counterintuitive method (you have choose it again in the menu every time you open the app goes back too many screens)

Unfortunately the only way to get newsfeeds somewhat chronological is to select the 3 bars top right corner and choose "most recent" quick link but once you in back to home/default page the newsfeed is re-shuffled again. Do to this annoyance I've gone back to using a really old version facebook 96.0.0.17.70. It doesn't re-shuffle the newsfeed but I've also lost some functionality. Right now it's an acceptable trade off. It would be a good mod to have the home/default newsfeed to NOT re-shuffle and use the "most recent" algorithm.

You may be able to sniff the urls if you use a tool like Wireshark. Personally, I don't use it as I don't know how to use it, btw

Hello. I've been working on a patched Facebook APK for some time. My patched version tries to get rid of as much clutter, junk, and social garbage as possible. I am primarily targeting things like the clutter that pops up after most interactions with content ("Related Articles", "People Also Shared", "More Videos", etc), as well instagram upsells, "suggested posts", ads (obviously), and generally anything designed to either hijack your attention or to disingenuously present itself as "organic" content while being, in fact, paid content.
Though I've seen a number of facebook mods on here, I hadn't been able to find anything that focuses this closely on removing clutter and optimizing the interaction between user and content. And although this stuff can probably be done with an Xposed extension, the nice thing about a standalone APK is that non-rooted users can obviously benefit from it too.
I don't mind patching the stuff myself, though I'm mainly an ARM dude so having to dig through megs and megs of DEX bytecode all by myself has been rather tedious. The community has shown some interest, so I am publishing a preliminary link to my "bleeding-edge" version below, as well as to an older and possibly more stable version.
Clearly you have only my word that I hadn't introduced malware or a bitcoin miner, though you are welcome to unpack the APK and diff it against stock.

Installation
Prior to installing, be sure to uninstall all other applications that are made by Facebook. This includes FB itself, Messenger, Messenger Lite, Page Manager, etc. These do not always cause installation problems (though they should). The problem is that all apps in the FB family use key-based authentication for data sharing. So since my modded app is signed with my key, all FB companion apps need to be signed with that key as well. I've included some of the popular ones below. You might also need to enable installation of apps from unknown sources. If you get an installation error, try installing with ADB and see what the actual error is.

If someone wants to join forces in terms of decompilation / disassembly / searching the haystack for how to nuke other unwanted FB garbage, please let me know. I can give you the script I use for repacking the APK (though since FB stopped using their obnoxious Buck multi-dex structure, this is basically just a bunch of calls to sha1sum and apktool). My current method of modding the DEX files involves a decompiler (to find the logic I want), a disassembler (to find the instructions I want), a hex editor (to do the actual patching), and FixDEXChecksum from the internets. Surely there must be a better way! I am not sure of smali/baksmali would work here (again, due to multi-dex) but perhaps the less obnoxious (non-Buck) stuff that FB is using these days may be easier to work with when using the smali tools. (I don't really know how this stuff works - I'm more used to ARM code and all this java stuff is way over my head)

2. Minor update to the Facebook APK (v15.3) - this is a minor update that deletes Stories from the main news feed. I nuked Stories from the top of the feed, but they still sneak in between the other posts. This update fixes that. If these don't bother you, there's no need to update.

3. For people who actually *like* Stories, here's a version with Stores restored (they are present at the top of the feed, and in the feed), but all the mods to all the other stuff are still in place. Although this is technically just a revert of one minor change, I have only run this version for a few minutes, so that technically makes it quite experimental.

Like some of the other users, I got my first update nag. So it begins...
It seems like this update nag happened almost exactly six months since the last update. I thought that could be "good" because it meant having to update less frequently...
... but from looking at the code, a lot can change in six months. On top of being super busy with work (startups and all), I'm somewhat rusty on the FB internal structure - time to dig up the notes. Plus, the code has changed a fair bit - some of my earlier breadcrumbs are barely recognizable. But, I started digging into things tonight, and I "think" I managed to rebase my first patch. We'll see if I've actually found the right code path, or if that code path is still in use, or if the associated logic is doing what I *think* it's doing. So we'll see.
Unfortunately the changes also mean that some of my earlier semi-automated tools won't work on this version, and will require some modification. For at least one of the patching tools, I think the porting should be straightforward, but I have to sit down and do it, before I can apply the patches and spin up an APK. I tried to port one of the auto-generated patches by hand and the very early results look like they might be promising, but it would be annoying to do 30 of these by hand. So... time to update the tools for the new code structure.
Some of my other automated tools look like they were less affected, but I won't know for sure until I try applying the patches that they generate (and again, assuming the code paths they touch are still in use in the application). So hopefully that part will be a little easier, but I won't know for sure until I try. Something frustrating and unforeseen always comes up ...
Then, I have to rebase all the manual patches (there's a handful), and of course, deal with whatever unwanted junk was added over the past six months.
